Let me start off by saying that I usually skip over the burger section. I can't imagine going out to eat and ordering a burger, plus it's hard to get it done the way I want. My friend raved about the steak special which is the reason she insisted on bringing me here. That, and the root beer. I don't drink root beer so I cannot comment on it, but apparently it's pretty well known.
Once I read about The Hangover Burger I was implored to order it. I started with the cheese fries and I can tell you to just skip them; they were awful. The steak fries were mealy and barely warm. Although they were covered in cheese, it dried up quickly and was not the unhealthy fake-ish cheese sauce I have come to love. There was almost no bacon, but for a few pieces sprinkled on, and what was less appetizing was the two, dirty packets of sour cream thrown on top. That's where the bad ends.
The burger was INSANE! See photos; I mean, this thing came out looking like it was meant for a photoshoot! It was cooked to a juicy, perfect, red medium-rare, and was so big I could only eat half. Skip the coleslaw, though . I didn't need a second helping of fries so I opted for whatever it was that they called coleslaw, but coleslaw it was not. Just gross. I'm not sure what was in in but it wasn't cabbage or slaw mix and it tasted like pure vinegar. The waiter was attentive and spot on.
I asked, "How's your cheesecake?" He was honest and told me that it's like nothing I'd expect, and that their cheesecake is very different, but that it's good. So I said, "Let's give it a whirl". Holy cow, this HUGE slab of cheesecake came out and he was right. It was like no cheesecake I'd ever had, but it was really, really delicious! I managed to stuff every, last bite down my gullet, and found it was much better solo than with the strawberry topping I ordered with it. Eat it plain; it needs nothing added. The only way I can describe it, is that it's like the lovechild of mascarpone and tiramisu, so light and fluffy, almost whipped. It's a far cry from the dense, heavy cheesecake I would have expected, which I love, but this is in an arena all its own. Absolutely decadent and no matter how much of it I ate, it left me wanting more.
Normally, I'd give four stars because of the cheese fries and slaw, but the burger, the steak, and the cheesecake were all so absolutely out of this world, that it would be an injustice to deduct a star. The goodness of those items trumps the downfall of some fries and a side of slaw. Avoid those, and you can get a perfect meal for a great price here.
In fact, the burger was so good, that I chased that flavor for the next couple of days and ordered burgers elsewhere and they all paled...
Read moreWe came here 5 days out of 6 during our Las Vegas vacation. The price is very reasonable, the food is plentiful and tastes great. Nostalgic Old Vegas where the locals also patronize this restaurant.
They are open 24 hours. Breakfast Menu is available from 11pm to 11am.
This restaurant is located inside the Ellis Island Casino, one long Vegas block behind ‘Bally’ now Horseshoe hotel.
We came here to try out the Steak and Eggs on Christmas Day and it was incredible.
The steak and eggs on the breakfast menu is 10pz. We had the not on menu Steak and Eggs (8oz) special for U$8.99! Comes with buttered toast and crispy potatoes.
I love Ham and they serve Ham steak and Eggs U$10.99 here, which I had 3 days in a row. The ham steak is about 10” round, thick moist and juicy, we don’t have this in Canada for this price. And even if I find a place that serve ham steak, it’s usually dry.
My husband tried the Chicken and Waffles, which is good but we love our steaks.
He also had the Cornbeef Hash and the 50/50 Burger which has bacon mixed into the beef patty with Bacon on top. It was good also.
For Christmas Dinner we had the Prime Rib Special with Marshmellow Yams, and Garlic with Green Beans, it came with Salad and Dessert for $U$19.99, our most expensive meal there. The Prime Rib was 12 oz at 1.5-2” thick in Medium Rare..
I also tried the Pot Roast dinner and it was so tender and melt in your mouth, that’s when I wished I have a microwave in my room to take the left overs home.. so much food.
The Split Pea Soup is stellar also, full of ham bits and so good.
If you joined Ellis Island Casino Players Club and get a players card, then you can get a voucher daily for off the menu dinner Steak Special which is a Baseball size Steak with choice of potatoes or rice pilaf and salad. It was a lot of steak for U$11.99.
All the servers were courteous, hard working and very friendly, they check back with you to make sure you are enjoying your meals. The front reception staff were nice also, if you had a number, they will text you so you don’t need to hang around to wait for your table. Usual wait for breakfast is under 10 minutes and for dinner the longest wait we waited is 30 minutes.
For the 5 out of 6 days we were in Las Vegas, we ate here. Price is reasonable, food is great!
Be warned, if you are sensible to smoke, the restaurant is smoke free but the casino still...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting the Village Pub & Cafe within the Ellis Island Casino. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas Strip, this charming establishment offers a perfect blend of high-quality cuisine that won't break the bank.
Upon entering, I was struck by the casual yet inviting ambiance, which set the stage for a memorable dining experience. Eager to explore the menu, my father and I decided to indulge in the King Cut Prime Rib, priced at a reasonable $34.99. The slow-roasted prime rib was impeccably cooked and served with a delectably baked potato and garlic-infused green beans. Each component of the dish showcased the kitchen's skill and attention to detail, resulting in a truly delightful culinary experience. The outstanding food and service left us eager to return.
We also ordered the EI Caesar Salad à la carte for $13.99 to complement our main course. The fresh, crisp romaine lettuce was expertly dressed in a homemade Caesar dressing, adorned with generous shavings of Parmesan cheese, and accompanied by crunchy croutons and steak fries. Every bite was a harmonious blend of flavors, highlighting the restaurant's commitment to using quality ingredients and culinary expertise.
While our culinary journey was exceptional, it's important to note that our experience was slightly tarnished by an interaction with one of the bussers. Regrettably, our polite request for him to clear a bowl to make room for our prime rib was met with a less-than-friendly response. His demeanor and lack of professionalism starkly contrasted with the otherwise outstanding service provided by our server, who was attentive and gracious throughout our meal.
The Village Pub & Cafe offers a delightful dining experience, showcasing a range of delicious and affordable options in a welcoming setting. However, the establishment must address service inconsistencies and ensure all staff members contribute positively to the dining experience. Despite the isolated incident with the busser, the outstanding food merits a strong recommendation, and I look forward...
