I was excited to try this place given I’ve eaten at pretty much every other place on main st and they has a really high rating. Having had two of their sandwiches now, I was pretty let down overall. The place was completely empty when we came in which is ok, the service was great, the woman behind the counter was super helpful with recommendations. We got the Hot Tejana and the Turkey Cheese Sandwich. Both sandwiches looked great and after the first couple of bites we could tell they would be a bit different than typical sandwiches. They started out interesting but half way through there was something about each that wasn’t quite right. I don’t know how to describe it other than by the end of the sandwich we weren’t in love with what we had just eaten. They where ok but certain ingredients where just to overwhelming like the amount of goat cheese on the turkey sandwich and the spicy Cheetos in the Hot Tejano. I really appreciate somebody doing something different than all the others but these two sandwiches didn’t really hit the spot and we likely won’t go back. The dipping sauces for both looked really good but again, tasted off and didn’t really compliment the sandwiches. As you would expect for PC, it’s very pricey — 44 bucks for two sandwiches, two fountain...
Read moreClean place. Friendly staff. Lots of healthy options. Food was very solid (not mind blowing but good). Cost right at $100 to feed a family of six. At that cost I was surprised my salad came in a plastic box. It was tasty though.
On a side note, if you have 6 or more in your family/group you will be forced to pay a 15% gratuity at a restaurant that you order your food at the counter. Maybe this is just me, but I really do not appreciate being forced to pay gratuity at an order at the counter eatery. You order your food at the counter and are given your cups to get your own drinks. The staff does bring your food to you but after that there is no additional service by the staff. Tips are EARNED for exceptional service and food quality. I’m generally a 20%+ tipper in most instances, but if you are going to force me to pay to 15% just for taking my order then that will certainly be all the tip I will pay.
This type of policy seems to be more common and not specific to the Big Dipper. If you are a little more old school like myself, and feel like tips should be earned, then you might care to know this before choosing to eat here if you have 6 or more in your family/group.
Otherwise, the food was good and the staff...
Read moreI hate to mark places down but I felt a bit misled by the 4.7 average star rating of this place. With that kind of rating, I was expecting to be blown away, but I was not. I feel that 4.2-4.4 would be a more appropriate average star rating overall.
I'd rate the food itself at about 4.0. It was pretty good, but nothing really spectacular. The menu options, however, seem to have some unique and fun choices that were not quite for me. But ordering a traditional French Dip, I thought it was a little above-average and not much more.
The ambience was only a slight bummer because there are no windows looking out into the lovely Park City, but otherwise it was clean inside.
Service was good.
It'd be annoying to go into more detail since 1. I'm not really a food critic, and 2. I'm currently just procrastinating my work by writing this review. So I'll wrap it up with this:
If you want a French Dip and some fries and you're not really one of the financial elite in Park City, you should come here because it's a solid French Dip with some creative, youthful options. It's more affordable than some other places, and wont have the large crowds since it's on the north end of the street past all the...
