The food here is outstanding. The trout on toast is a notable starter. Our table’s steaks and chicken were cooked to perfection. The side dishes were a bit heavy on peppercorn and onion (especially for the beef tenderloin).
The service was the worst I’ve experienced in several years. It’s sad to see that others felt this place was welcoming, attentive, and friendly. That wasn’t our experience at all. The manager was very receptive to our feedback and did provide a considerable reduction on our bill, so I want to provide that as a caveat and acknowledge that was the right thing to do but I wish it hadn’t gotten to that point. It was our friend’s birthday as noted on the reservation and even by our concierge who called earlier that day to remind. After about 15 min and the host filling our water twice, the waiter finally showed up but never introduced himself, never introduced the menu/concept, and was acting like short order diner staff, wanting to get our order in and have us get out. He was very annoyed when we asked him to help us understand the menu since this was our first time (e.g., were the starters to be shared, individual, etc). His explanations also didn’t explain much. When I asked how the Branzini was prepared he looked at me like I was stupid and said “as I said, all of our food is cooked on an open flame, ok?” He slammed the amuse bouche down on the table, tried repeatedly to take our drink menu (we would’ve ordered more if he hadn’t honestly made us feel so unwelcome), and was generally put out that we were there. It was never acknowledged until I spoke with the manager it was our friend’s birthday. It sounds like our experience was out of the ordinary based on other posts here and they need to do some additional training with our waiter but hearing our concierge had called to try to make it nice and that’s still how we were treated? Big stain on what could’ve been great and I do not recommend celebrating a special...
Read moreI have been to firewood a few times and I truly cannot recommend it enough to anyone that asks where to get the best meal not just in Park City but in Utah! Our most recent experience went above and beyond my other times I’ve been there and it was worth making a review to recommend this location to others. We were a group of 4 with one guest having a lactose intolerance and one pescatarian and they were so accommodating. Every appetizer they were able to adjust for our dietary restrictions and even on items we told them we figured they couldn’t make adjustments and didn’t expect them to they figured out a way while still making everything very flavorful. They excelled at making sure everyone was happy and able to try different things and were very creative in their ways to accommodate our dietary restrictions. Even the few palate cleanser items and things we didn’t even order that were provided they adjusted for us. The staff is so wonderful every time I have been and they make it seem like they just truly love their jobs and want to help each guest have the best dining experience. We came right after the restaurant was opening back up for summer season so we were very excited to try the new summer menu. The summer cocktails were presented beautifully and they always have the best wine list. Our favorite cocktails were the Fireline and the Bourbon Smash. They were fresh and balanced perfectly! All of our food was absolutely amazing. The trout toast is always my favorite appetizer but the whole tables was definitely the pork belly. With some of our family being from New England they don’t get to enjoy bison dishes too often and there was no disappointment with what they got. Plates were completely empty all around. We had such an incredibly evening made possible by the warm atmosphere, attentive and personable staff, incredible food and delicious drinks. I cannot wait until we have an...
Read moreA shockingly underwhelming dining experience for the egregiously expensive price tag. Portions are tiny, “designed so that you can have an appetizer, salad, and main and not be too full”. Mains are only 6oz despite fetching over $60 in price. Deserts are a similar racket, with a 1-bite smore costing $18. The $66 dessert platter supposedly serves up to 6, but as 4 we struggled for each of us to take small enough bites to make the items shareable.
The food was fine at best . My steak was somewhat tough and pretty flavorless. Mushrooms were overly salted and overwhelmed the rest of the dish. I almost had to stop eating them. The fish tasted like the $2 frozen tilapia fillets I air fry for meal prep. Crispy pork belly was delicious, but perhaps the only genuinely good bite of the night.
This degree of quality is unacceptable when the meal was $600 and the portions were so small I left and immediately went in search of something more filling. I’ve had better and more satisfying meals for $15.
The ambiance is also underwhelming. We were sat next to the kitchen, but the view quickly got old as the temperature radiating from it slowly cooked the side of my face. Additionally, being seated so close to the front door ruined the intimate and luxurious feel a restaurant of this caliber should possess. Perhaps being seated towards the back windows would be a more worthwhile experience, but the ambiance felt horribly mismatched with the price tag.
Service is fine but slow and somewhat inattentive for the price bracket.
Save your money and go elsewhere. Quite frankly, even if the meal was more reasonably priced I still would have left...
