My service dog was refused entry today.
Update: I love Patrick’s wholly inaccurate response. Maybe he should only respond if he was present for the situation or if he has talked to all parties involved. Yes, someone did get upset and left but that was after we were told no a second time after we said she was a service dog. I will point out I was never visibly upset or lost my temper, as you suggest, I very calmly explained the law and what is allowed to be asked. It was only AFTER I explained the federal law for the second time and the others left that they changed their opinion and said we could come in and then tried saying he only meant we couldn’t come in if it wasn’t a service dog. I will point out my dog is in a vest and her leash says in large red that she is a service dog. I will also point out that US federal law does not require a vest. She is very identifiable as a service dog and your response makes clear that you are just attempting to cover your tracks for violating federal law.
Yes, you are correct, there are 2 questions that can be asked and I am always happy to answer them, however your staff did not ask them as you claim. In fact I had to tell them the questions they legally can ask to confirm she is a service dog, and he appeared unaware and said “they don’t ask those questions because anyone can say it is a service dog then”. If they had asked the questions in the first place, this would have never been an issue.
As I very nicely pointed out to your staff they handled this situation inappropriately and not in accordance with federal law.
When I attempted to clear this with Patrick on the phone he was rude and dismissive. His words and tone made me upset. It is an establishment’s and particularly the manager’s responsibility to maintain customer service and speak to people in polite tones and words, not to speak to them in a degrading way and attempt to discredit an experience. Your employees and establishment need to relearn the ADA law and be more accessible for the community with disabilities
The owners should take a hard look at who they are employing and have...
Read moreI recently dined at this restaurant with a group of friends, and while the experience started out okay, the service quickly soured, leaving a bad taste in our mouths. We had a decent meal, but when it came time to split the check, the waiter’s attitude was downright rude.
The issue began when the waiter, Bolo, didn’t even ask if we wanted separate checks. When one of my friends politely asked him to split the check, he immediately responded with, “It’s your fault, you should have told me to split the check in the first place.” There was no reason for this attitude—my friend was respectful, and the waiter’s response was completely uncalled for.
To make matters worse, the waiter said he needed to get a manager to split the check. We waited at our table, and when he returned, he literally threw the check in front of my friend in a very rude manner. After gathering our cards and checks, we waited for him to return and collect them, but instead of attending to us, he spent time cleaning other tables. Frustrated by the lack of service, we decided to head to the bar to pay, but as we were walking in, the waiter,Bolo, stopped cleaning to tell us we had to pay with him.
When my boyfriend explained to Bolo that he had been rude and never offered to split the check, the waiter defensively claimed, “We don’t do that here, I know because I work here,” in a condescending tone. At that point, my boyfriend asked him to get the manager. Meanwhile, the bartender stepped in and helped us with no issues—kind, professional, and efficient. By the time the manager arrived, the problem had already been solved by the bartender, who had provided a much better experience.
Overall, while the food was decent, the service was disappointing, and the waiter's attitude was a huge letdown. There are plenty of places in town that know how to treat their customers with respect, and unfortunately, this place isn’t...
Read moreI am a 6 year patron of No Name as a Salt Lake resident. This used to be my go to weekend place. After 18 months away I returned for a visit on NFL Sunday with a friend. I was in for a big surprise…
We went upstairs in the late morning to the loft bar, the first customers of the day. We were immediately warned by the bartender that our game would be preempted by the ‘regulars’ and we would be kicked out of that side of the bar when they came. Little did we know the so called regulars were the bartender’s two fantasy football league partners.
Also, there are now fewer TV’s in the loft because the bartenders would watch them too much while pouring drinks (our bartender told us this), so we couldn’t watch the games we came to see…especially with the edict from our bartender about his regular friends!
Wow.
Worse, the bartender blocked my view of our game the whole time jawboning with his fantasy buddies. The whole bar was empty and that’s the spot he stayed glued to…
What happened to the service and value??? In one hour I rang up a $90 bill on modest food and drinks in one half. The prices exploded!
I had also hoped to see my old friend bartenders Laura, Andrea, Amy, who were so warm and attentive and friendly. It was always such a lovely environment when they were working. They and their top notch service? Gone now.
It’s so disappointing because I really loved coming to No Name for Sunday football every week.
I know that No Name can get back to better times soon. I’ll definitely be back for another try during spring skiing. Hoping...
