Terrible at To-Go Orders or Online Menu Accuracy – Be Aware!
I ordered two large Pho from their online ordering, which states “88 oz.”. The ordering platform includes other sizes as small - 38 oz. and medium - 52 oz.. I figured two 88 oz. would be enough for four people to each have about 40 oz. of broth. What they sent home when my wife picked it up on her way home was two 32 oz. containers of broth (64 oz. in total), the noodles and meatballs (both were cold, so we had to heat them up), the sprouts and basil and two very small sauces.
I called and the nice girl on the phone listened to me tell her we got less than half of the broth we paid for. I told her we were about 15-minuites away so were not going to go back for more and just needed them to refund the cost of the large since we got smalls based on their online ordering. She transferred me to a manager, and I explained the situation.
The manager told me they list things on their menu by weight not fluid ounces, and it includes the noodles and meats. Do you really not understand fluids like broth, soup and PHO are sold by the liquid ounce?!?! I told him I’ll order a pizza for the rest of our family and since he wasn’t even going to refund the extra cost of the broth we didn’t get, we just won’t be back, which is terrible since this was our favorite place to go eat Pho.
Since everything except the broth was cold, I added the noodles, meatballs and broth to a pot on our stove to heat it up. The broth was so little it didn’t even cover the noodles! For the first time ever we had Pho with more noodles than broth!?!? There was so little sauce provided it didn’t even add any color or flavor when added. Is broth and sauce not the least expensive parts of making Pho?
To be certain I wasn’t off on how liquids were sold, I did actually weigh the entire amount, which should have been 176 oz. by weight, or 11 pounds. It weighed 5 pounds, 4 ounces or 84 oz. in total with the spouts, basil, meatballs, noodles and broth. This is half of what is on their online ordering when sold by weight as the manager suggested and about 1/3 the liquid amount. In sum, Pho Vy is likely not the place for you to order to-go Pho unless you have a stove, extra broth and sauce at home. In which case, you should just make your own Pho. I won’t be back for to-go or dine-in.
I did give two stars as many past dine-in experiences have been good both in quality...
Read moreWhat kind of restaurant runs without a manager on duty? Where can you get Pad Thai with chicken that literally smells like wet dog, and when you try a piece, actually tastes like wet dog (I'm serious about this, this isn't a metaphor)? What sort of place serves you such entrees, and after you choose to send it back, they refuse to void the entree on the basis that they don't have a manager on duty, and therefore can't take it off? Where might you go to receive rather slow service and periodically inattentive servers? The answer to all these questions is this place.
I've eaten here maybe a dozen times over the past few years, and this place has always been particularly spotty. Sometimes the food is great, but many times the food is rather sub-par. Their Pho for a long time tasted awful due to the poor quality of the water that this location briefly became known for. I stopped eating the Pho for that reason and went to the Pad Thai and Noodle Bowls which were good for a time. Today however, their Pad Thai was unfortunately on the gruesome side. Anymore, I'm of the opinion the ONLY thing this place has going for it anymore is their Crab Cheese Wontons, but even they're of the junk variety (only filled with cream cheese, and little to nothing representing crab).
There used to be a Pho Vy (now Pho Khang) near Park Meadows that had a few servers that migrated to this Parker location that I followed because I enjoyed their service and trusted their belief that this Parker location was good. I haven't seen them the past few times I've been in, so I'm no longer sure what's happened to them. It's a shame, and no matter who invites me back to this location, I'm afraid this Parker Pho Vy is never going to see my...
Read moreHate to do this, but this is the first time I have been underwhelmed with pho and left hungry. I want to make clear that the service was great as always and the flavor was still good. So, now for the bad and reasoning for my rating. They changed up their pho menu quite a bit. Both in terms of sizes and in terms of options/ingredients. Normally, I would get the rare steak and well-done brisket and it would be delicious. Either a size medium or large. This time, they completely removed the rare steak and brisket option. So, I order the rare steak option instead. Come to find out, they only have one size bowl now. It looks like a medium size, but as far as I could tell, there was barely enough noodles and meat to call it a small. As I said, I left hungry and never once have I ever left a pho place hungry. Then, instead of getting the traditional rare steak that is served in thin slices that is actually rare, it was chopped up into crumbles and looked more like ground beef. Hardly anything to the serving and I ended up leaving some behind because it was difficult to pick up in small crumbles. This was very disappointing and I grossly overpaid for the bowl that I got. On the only bright side, the spring rolls were still good and actually had the legit meat inside still. I won't be returning as long as their menu...
