Read moreWe had our Saturday date night all planned, first dinner at Anaya's and then around the corner to a play at the Pasadena Playhouse (right around the corner). We had looked so forward to the evening and yet we Were so disappointed by what we experienced at Anayas. The food was awful! We both ordered the Enchiladas Del Mar, supposed to be enchiladas with shrimp and rice and beans. The enchiladas we're sadly just rolled tortillas that didn't even look like they had been put on a Comal and had the shrimp in them and then they were folded over on the plate with a sprinkle of mozzarella (huh? no Cotiga or even jack cheese) and the enchilada sauce which was supposed to be to Chipotle cream sauce. But it looked like it was alfredo sauce, it tasted horrible.Super bland, the tortillas were so soggy. I'm used to having enchiladas that have a nice bake on them with melted cheese that is bubly and lightly toasted. Our waiter was pleasant enough when we first ordered, but never came back to check on our experience. Hadn't eaten for several hours, so was famished. So I scooped out the shrimp from the yucky tortillas and hate them with chips and guacamole. My hubby ordered his enchiladas with Chile Verde and was also disappointed in the texture. Reminded me of places known to have cooked bagged entrees that are plated like there fresh, like Olive Garden and how Panera used to be. Except that Anaya's way over charges for what the "don't" deliver!!! Sadly you'd be better off going to Del Taco...SMH🥸 As a 59 year old Chicana, born & raised in LA County, I know what enchiladas are!!! Needless to say we'll...

We ordered a share plate, molcajete de carnes, and were very happy we did. The volcanic bowl comes with beef, chicken, cactus, avocado, cheese and some vegetables, plus bean, rice and tortillas on the side. Depth of flavor was amazing, and the tortillas sopped up every bit of the broth.
Cocktails here are great, with pitchers of margaritas, mojitos, sangria, and multiple tequila flights for bigger groups or adventurers. This place also offer a MASSIVE list of premium tequila, mezcal and other spirits. If you’ve been missing refreshing, authentic Mexican drinks, this is definitely worth a visit. Flavors for margaritas and mojitos are a small charge, but the purée is well worth it if you’re not in the mood for lime.
One of the finest bars I’ve been to, with full glassware and well stocked bar (including good wine options) for nearly any kind of cocktail you could imagine. The atmosphere is very relaxed and cool. Perfect for a regular day, and easy to upgrade your order for a special occasion.
The real highlight here has to be the staff. Everyone was friendly and extremely efficient. Each seemed to know to make/pour drinks and also cover one another to run food out to tables as quickly as possible. Every drink arrived at our table quick and cold, and the food still piping hot.
Absolute 5/5 venue and one of my...
