Bad taste, but nothing to do with the food.
My husband and I decided to have lunch out at Chuys in Pasadena, Texas today. With us, we had our disabled son. He is in a wheelchair and currently has casts on both legs from a tendon surgery. When we walked in the hostess seemed completely lost on where we would be sat. She spent several minutes mumbling about where to put us. She then brought us to a table right outside the kitchen exit. Because it was in a walkway I asked politely if we could have a table somewhere else. The hostess then told us she would ask her manager if it was okay to sit us somewhere else. The restaurant was not even half full. There was an entire section with only one table of people. After standing in the middle of the isle for several minutes waiting for her to come back, my husband took our son back to the front so we would not just be standing there in the dinning area. After 2-3 more minutes of waiting, I look around and see the hostess looking at us from the kitchen area but not moving. Finally I walk back to ask if we will be seated. The hostess then tells me she doesn’t know where to seat us. Walks past me, talks to a waitress and then tells me to follow her. At that point I asked why it was so difficult to seat a family with a disabled child. Another waitress said “we will just put you over here”. I tell them we no longer plan on eating there, but I would like to talk to the manager. She huffed, then replied she didn’t know where he was. I waited in the front to tell the manager just how embarrassing and rude it was to act as if we were moving hazardous material instead of a wheelchair bound child. I am not sure if they just don’t serve many people in the disabled community, but they certainly made it seem like it was a difficult task. We won’t bother going back. This is why parents with medically complex disabled children don’t go into public often. We were made into a spectacle. 0 out of 5 stars. I DO...
Read moreHey everyone, you have to check this restaurant out! I loved it. I went there tonight with a group of friends and we enjoyed the atmosphere and the food as well. The staff was attentive and we were greeted at the door as we were walking in by a young lady who was smiling, helpful and kind. We were seated quickly. Overall, we spent a little over $100.00 dollars and it was worth every dime. The food was served quickly. It was fresh and hot. I loved the ranched dip for the chips which had a spice kick to it. I loved it so much I bought a container to take home. It’s great. We ordered 2 orders of the nachos with chicken, steak burrito, kids meal cheeseburger, sodas, water and of course the Grand Ma’s Rockin Ritas. The Rita is a must try for anyone looking to enjoy a great refreshing alcoholic drink. The taste is amazing. It’s a must try! Definitely ask for Brent. He is a great manager and will definitely come out to your table for conversation and to make sure everything is going well and you are enjoying your food. He also does not mind hard work either. It was great to see a manager go above and beyond, even helping his staff serve tables. We had great conversation with him and even learned some of the history behind Chuy’s Restaurants. Thank you to Brent and your staff for showing our party an amazing time. We enjoyed everything about it and look forward to our next visit at...
Read moreI haven't been to Chuy's in at least 4-5 yrs. I used to go often to the College Station, Tx location when I lived there. My significant other of almost 4 yrs told me she didnt like the enchiladas she got at Chuy's several years ago and hasnt been back since. I asked her which enchilada sauce she got because there are several good and distinct flavors to choose from. I missed going to Chuy's and we agreed to be open minded and give it another try on her part. Well we were both impressed with our meal and we willl return soon. It was as unique & tasty as I remember with their take on Tex-Mex flare. My significant other was all smiles and asked that we put Chuy's on our regular restaurant list; I agreed. The green chile rice was different but pleasant & delicious. The refried beans were different (red chili powder, bouillon..?) but full bodied & yummy. My Fire Steak Fajita Enchiladas were different but simply amazing. My significant other's Elvis themed Chicken Fried Chicken on a bed of (hatch) green chil sauce was different but delightful. The prices are very affordable. The menu is unique. Not the type of traditional tex mex or mex food we are used to in this area particularly, and they dont claim or try to be, but it does very good with its diverse comingling of spices, chiles & flavors. Enjoy; see...
