I don't do google review quite often, but thought to do one for this new food location on road 68. Ding Tea's location was originally Kabob house who didn't succeed and probably had to sell the business. My friend invited me to come with him to try out a new Boba place, and this was the place we stop by after my work shift had ended. I knew that this was their first day opening for business, and we went inside to check it out. The atmosphere was warm with the decors and it looks like a place young people would go to for pictures and food. What I notice after I order my food and drink was that the staffs are slow to clean up the surrounding tables. They also look unprepared as the cash register seem to be a big problem. I liked that they tried to provide us something to drink while we wait in a timely manner. The food took a lot longer to get to us than I expected, my friend ordered number 2 Pho with two cups of Boba that he asked for a larger cup. I ordered number 22 combo sandwich with a strawberry Yakult boba in a large cup. I don't remember exactly how long it took, but they were busy and we got our food at some point while waiting. The Boba were the last thing to reach us and my friend and I liked that the Boba were cooked thoroughly. The one thing we found to be annoying after we left was that their ice cubes were in the way of us getting to the last of the Boba in the cup. My friend thought the Pho was good, but probably not 20 dollars level of good. I tried their sandwich and made notes of it compare to Seattle and California plus Texas. I will say that I gave them leeway with the fact that certain ingredients are hard to come by in our remote area. The Banh Mi bread was the legit stuff and not a European baguettes being used to make the classic Banh Mi in Vietnam. The vegetable and meat plus the pate was good, but man is the sandwich kind of bland considering it doesn't have a prefill sauce like soy sauce or fish sauce or something else. I forgot we had Siracha on the table while eating the sandwich as is till halfway through, and the siracha made a huge difference to the taste. I would probably come back again to try their other sandwich because I think they have better potential considering the meat option are already seasoned. Overall, I think Ding Tea is a good place, but I would advise to visit them after about 2 weeks or a month for those interested. The staffs needs more training, and the speed at which the food is made need to improve. They are not a fast food place so in regard to time I can wait, but it should not take 25 minutes to get our drink. They are new and I believe that people should not bash them for it, but give them room to acclimate. I hope this might be helpful to anyone interested in...
Read moreSo sad to write this but I am writing in HOPES it gets better.
We have been to this place a dozen times and the food is always amazing. Service has never been very good at all, I dont think they have any sort of training to be honest but thats another story, the food was so good we never cared.
Last time we were here was 2 weeks ago, food was perfect as always, today we ordered the same exact things we always do and I was shocked. The Wonton ramen was awful, the wontons were rock hard, and the noodles were just gross. They tasted like weird whole wheat cardboard noodles. It was so different I thought they had to have changed the products altogether because there was no way this was a preparation issue. I had noticed the menu design had changed but all the food was the exact same, not uncommon for people to change the design of the menu so I didn't think much when I saw it other than telling the server "oh you got new menus, cool". Server never once checked on us u til we were completely done, when she asked if we wanted boxes (I took about 5 bites of mine and just gave up) i asked if they had changed the wontons or the ramen noodles because they were just completely different. (The beef pho also tasted weird, like some offputting flavor, not really sure what went wrong there but it just used to be one of the better ohos around and now I wouldn't eat that for any reason. ) She said she didn't know, then said well, they might have changed because we are actually changing our franchise, we won't be ding tea anymore we will be road 68 pho. The sign had already said that for a bit so maybe we are just now running into the changes... anyway super disappointing that this place just completely went to poo. My husband had the chicken udon and that seemed to be the same so thats a plus. Hopefully thats not next on the list to get switched.
If someone is experimenting with new products, please stop and go back. That was just...
Read moreI am so surprised at all the not so great reviews for this place! I thought the pho was amazing. The Udon noodle soup was great as well. The Waitress was a bit "overbearing" but none the less the experience was good. The workers had some miscommunication going on so when my friend and I went to pay, the restraunt ended up paying for our meal. They said it was an error on their part so I felt like the care for their customers was much appreciated. I will be re-visiting this establishment and hopefully my review will remain the same !
UPDATE I re-visited this restaurant and there were definantly some inconsistencies. Such a bummer! The broth for a beef pho was not as flavorful as the first time I tried it. Honestly this time it was a bit bland and I was so disappointed. I also order EXTRA noodles like I always do, and I had to call the server over (which was a bit hard trying to get her attention because she was sitting at one of the tables eating while consumed with whatever she was doing on her phone) to double check and make sure they actually put extra noodles in. It was a regular sized portion, I can tell the difference but she tried to convince me that it was not. My husband ordered a dish with vermicelli noodles, he said it was great but what they advertise as vermicelli noodles are not traditional, they are adifferent style. It really wasn't a big deal but if my husband would have known they would be different he would have ordered a different dish since he was looking forward to traditional vermicelli noodles! I am usually not one to complain but the place does seem a bit unprofessional. Yes, family friendly and laid back I can appreciate but there is a fine line between "welcoming" and "unwelcoming"
I am going to give them one more chance! To win me over then I will start my search again for the best Pho...
