Holy cow! I have been to a number of Mexican restaurants around all of Utah, and my wife and I happened to stop by this place on a whim while in the area, and I will tell you now I fully understand the meaning of the phrase "happy accident", and I will tell you now the next time will very much be purposeful. Where to begin. Walking in, the place has an open, inviting atmosphere. No clutter or over decorating needed to get the theme across. The server was prompt in letting us know they were just cleaning a table for us, and we were sat within 10 minutes of arriving. They do not have a ton of seating, but not in a bad way. During peak times, you may have to wait a few extra minutes, but I much prefer that over being stuffed into a cramped space where my elbows touch the person at the next table over. That brings us to the food. I ordered the chicken fajitas, my wife, the fish tacos. We also got an order of the chips and salsa to start. Chips were crisp and fresh. Clearly made in-house and not sat for days before serving. The salsa was refreshing with only a little hint of spice. I enjoy very spicy salsa and should have asked if they had anything hotter, but it was very flavorful. The fajitas came out mounded on the skillet with side plates of the common accompaniments, beans, rice, lettuce, tortillas, etc. Most Mexican restaurants keep their fajita skillets in an oven that sees the food burning to a crisp on the bottom by the time it comes to the table. Not the case here. The skillet was hot enough to keep the food warm without turning to charcoal. Fantastic flavors, great presentation (see photo), would recommend. The fish tacos were equally stunning when set in front of us. My wife has officially declared them as the best fish tacos she has ever gotten in Utah. They were vibrant and packed with everything you'd want from a fish taco. The fish itself was perfectly seasoned and cooked. It was flaky without being dry. Had a beautiful texture, and you get three of them in a single order. Prices were extremely reasonable, especially given the portions and absolutely wonderful taste. If you are in the area, you have to stop by and check...
Read moreThe atmosphere is adorable. Nothing screams Mexican but the place is open and has nautical feel. We got the Mexican fondita for starter and it was okay. The fondita did look better before I took the picture but we had already mixed it by the time I took the picture. The flavor was very good but it was hard to eat because the cheese was just melted in a bowl no cream or anything added to it to make it so that it didn't just stick together in a clump. Tacos Gobernador was my main entree and I was disappointed. The bell peppers were raw and made it so you couldn't taste the shrimp. It was also so much cheese on the taco that it felt more like a corn quesadilla then a regular taco with some cheese peppers and onions. It was also advertised that my taco would be crunchy but unfortunately it was just chewy where they toasted it on the outside and the inside was left raw. My husband got the Berea quesadilla and he said that it was good very brisket like. He said it was nothing to write home about nothing special and just overpriced. I heard so many good things about this place I was excited to try it but unfortunately we will not go back and I advise that you do not waste your money on it. I fully expected in the next few days there will be a flood of positive reviews following this one because that's what people do. If they get a bad review they suddenly ask all their friends and neighbors to review it positively to try to block out the negative review but this is a completely accurate review...
Read moreThe food and drinks were great. The food had very good presentation. Cocktails shrimp was a bit overcooked but the flavor was okay, cooler temperature to the cocktail would have been nice. The ceviche was probably my favorite plate. It was very tangy and flavorful however it was a bit too spicy. The asada tacos did not come with guacamole so we had to order it on the side. The horchata was probably the best ive ever had and the jamaica was a good runner up. Definitely recommend the drinks. The spot has a very beachy vibe to it which I did like but the small tables were honestly very uncomfortable. There was barely any room for the plates and the drinks. It felt very ikea like definitely could do better as far as the tables go. Wait time for the food did take a little longer than I expected and the food did not all come out together for our party. It probably took 15 minutes between 1st and last plate to come out which I did not like. The price is fair for the area and the...
