Went for a nice ride all over today kind of all over. I was passing through Payson and saw a long line at this little diner. I thought this should be a cool place to get some good food. This place in Payson is called the Daley Freez. I decided to ask them what is their stop known for. They said their fish and chips and their shakes. So I got the halibut and it came with fries, onion rings and toast. I also got the grasshopper shake.
On to the fish and chips. I've had some good batter in Washington, so I was going to be picky. The halibut was way overfried and so hard I already knew that the halibut inside was done for. I was right. The halibut inside was so dried, that no amount of tartar sauce was going to restore these. The "chips", well, the fries was okayed seasoned and the onion rings were the same, it was so overfried, I didn't taste the onion anymore. The toast was just buttered toast of the smallest piece single slice of bread ever cut into 2 triangles.
Ok, next is the grasshopper shake, this you can't mess up. By this time my expectation had dropped a lot so I wasn't expecting much. I guess I needed to expect less. How could they mess this up? It was a very vanilla-y shake with a slight after taste of mint and crushed up Oreos.
Oh, so sad and disappointed at this place. I was very surprised at how busy this place was. I honestly will not be coming...

When you can't get the Oreo shake right, you get a one-star rating! It tasted like they used the fake, cheap "Oreo" knock-off cookies in their Oreo shakes. Just garbage. It's one of those staples at any shake place and they could have at least used real Oreos? (Maybe they were real Oreos and just super old?!?) Either way, yuck!
Even worse was the shake they call "Cookie Dough". Jeez...The so-called "cookie dough" pieces in the shake tasted like toothpaste balls. Or, slightly cold tapioca nuggets. I don't know...our group got two of those shakes and took both of them back because of how terrible they tasted. The guy with the beard look at us like we were from another planet bringing back terrible tasting products. I don't know if other people have had the same experience, but if that's the type of shake they serve and call it "cookie dough" then there HAS to be a few other customers who have come by and thought "hmmm, this does NOT taste like cookie dough shakes from ANY OTHER place that you can buy a similar shake."
Anyway, unless you can't tell already, not a fan of the shakes...Don't get me started about the shake they call "chocolate Milano" and the fact they used a liquid mix-in to concoct that unforgettable...
Read moreTonight I stopped by hoping to spend around 20$. I wanted to try one of the sandwiches not in a combo but just by itself to save money. When I asked the cashier how much that would be (because there are NO prices besides a few combo meals listed), she said she didn’t know but that it would be cheaper. My fiancé ordered a burger combo that was 10.25$ and then onion rings which were 5$. The combo for my sandwich was 10.50$ but assuming it would be cheaper as the cashier said…I thought maybe 7$. That in total is about 23$. When the cashier came back with our total she stated almost 33$. My jaw dropped. How does 23$ turn into 33$? Even if they charged me for the combo (which I wasn’t given a drink or side so that would be terribly unfair if i was charged for it), it wouldn’t have been near that much. To make 23$ turn into 33$ would mean a tax rate of over 40 percent. The cashier wouldn’t give a price break down and after I asked how it was that much she shut the window and then started talking to her friend. I would like someone to contact me about this as it seems very unfair and unreasonable to discuss the pricing and I would like to be refunded for what I was overcharged...
