Ep.3 of Dine With G at Mongo. …. New fave ?👀 #fypシ #houstoneats #houstonfood #houstonfoodie #houstonrestaurants

We stopped by thinking it was buffet style; turns out, only the rice bowls are all you can eat. (First time going, it was hard to find the "all you can eat" on the menu. Menu also doesnt have pictures, but since it's just "another" sushi place and you know your sushi, you dont need pics right. I'm not a big fan of sushi so pics help me pick what looks best.) That's why I ordered the black peppered ahi tuna, but it didnt look as great as the pic I'd seen online, and the flavor was so-so; I was expecting more "WoW". My friend ordered the CAJUN ROLLS from their Happy Hour Menu, and I loved those so much more than my own dish. Lol I think the only thing that really made it "cajun" was the crawfish served on the side, but the rolls were still tasty on their own. Could've used alil bit more sauce too. The service was great though (it was also 11am opening, so there weren't many other guests just yet). Our server William was super informative and helpful in explaining the "All-you-can-eat bowls" to us. And they offer FREE soft serve vanilla ice cream - the good kind. It was creamy, not the icy soft serve like the kind you find at some of the cheapy buffets. Overall, our first time was good enough for us to go back for more and keep trying other items off their menu. Plus I think the unlimited rice bowl is a great selling point. *but we're not sushi enthusiasts, so take that with a grain of salt 😅

My husband and I decided to go get food from here but it was the worst mistake that I made. My husband called before hand to make sure that there was some type of protocol for people with food allergies. We were reassured by the manager that my food will be cooked separately in the back and not where they cook shellfish and the peanuts due to my allergies. When we arrive we mentioned my allergies again to the manager and I also told the chef personally about my food allergies. Mind you that there's a sign right at the station where you get your food saying tell us of your food allergies. My husband sees another chef come in and before he can tell him not to dump the food where they cook it the shelf had already dumped it where the shellfish was. The original chef didn't stop to tell the additional shelf to not cook it there. After speaking with the manager I was reassured that my food would be remade and cooked properly. However, as you can tell by the picture there was a shrimp in my food. Yes I understand that there is always a risk of cross-contamination and the only thing that you can do is try to reduce the risk of it. Which is what we did numerous times by reminding them of the issue. This is just poor service and unproper handling of food. I would have given a 0 but the host were nice and apologetic.

Find another option. I have been living in the area for over 14 years. Tonight was the first time we have ever considered eating from here. First impressions are always a doozy right. So tonight I walk in to collect my pick up order and three young girls are at the hostess stand engaged with a family that had just walked in ahead of me. From the conversation it seemed it was an employee from the place coming in with his family. All three were clearly engaged and ignoring the fact that I was standing by. I get closet to the stand and still wasn’t acknowledged. Several more minutes go by when one finally made eye contact with me and I asked if this was where I picked up orders. Asked my name and handed my meal and I turned and I left. The door was closing behind me when I hear a catty and sarcastic, “well goodnight to you too”. Yes I was upset. You could have engaged me moved on, then tended to your personal engagement. The fact you realized I was upset then chose to call out so sarcastically, you represent this business. To me this is an example of the business you run by hiring such immature and unprofessional employees. How was the food, who cares. I choose not to engage your business anymore. If you are the manager or owner hopefully you read this review and decide to do something about. You will probably not. Either way this was the last time that I do business here and will actively discourage others from doing so as well. Too bad we cannot...
