I had high hopes for Full moon based on the comments of a couple diners when we walked in and my friends recommendation from a previous visit but had my first reservations when I saw it was a walk up counter to order and how quickly food was being delivered after ordering. I ordered a basic pulled pork sandwich plain, like with nothing since I didn't know what their sauce was like and did not know what their special chow-chow condiment was, as near as I can tell it's some sort of pickled relish, glad I skipped it. My food came out in less than 5 minutes and I noted it was luke warm at best, both the pork and the fries, this for me is a deal breaker to getting a 5 star review as no food can be it's best when not served hot. I can accept rapid delivery service and prep but please keep the food hot and serve it that way. Next I noted that the steak fries were just ok, they had no seasoning and we're of a medium crispness to lightly crisp, I asked when ordering if they were crispy as I like my fries, particularly steak fries more towards crispy, so again these were a bit of a let down. What really made this just ok for me is that if barbecue, in my case pulled pork, is going to be considered good I think the meat itself and the smoke flavor of it should stand on its own, I felt the pork was of good quality and cooked properly but utterly without flavor on its own, I added salt and used a little of their sauce which was on the table to liven it up a bit but overall I can't rate their pork even in my top 20 barbecue experiences. Just ok, probably won't eat their again when I next visit Birmingham. On a side note the sauce I had on the side was a medium strong Vinegar based sweet with a little heat type sauce, I am not a big fan of vinegar based sauce and commented to my fellow diners and they indicated what they were served on their sandwiches was sweet and not the same so I'm not sure if they have different sauces or there was a difference between what was being used in the kitchen versus on the tables or just differences in taste buds. For me a solid average barbecue joint and good enough if your hungry and...
Read moreUpdate as of 3.16.24: I visited again and enjoyed our family meal. The chicken was moist and tasty. I waited on the speaker patiently for a good few minutes. As I was about to drive to the window (thinking that the speaker was broken), a lady finally answered. I drove around and she took my payment. She went to process my card and I was wondering what was taking so long. I began observing her while she began removing several tickets from an area while my food sat just waiting on her. Upon her return, she handed me my card. I was prepared to still tip but she handed me my bags and I was on my way. I began smelling something and realized that the juice from the collard greens was waisting out. I stopped and realized how a small bag was crammed with greens, Mac n Cheese, and our cookies. Our cookies were getting soaked. The juice was all on my feet rest. It was a mess! We enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, I won't use the drive thru service for quite a while. "** Great customer service! Great food! Great location! Great atmosphere! So many great sports memorabilia on the walls to enjoy. Televisions on various walls with different sports showing and the volumes are not annoying but perfectly set. This is a great place to meetup with friends or for groups to meet at. Clean establishment. Easy access into the...
Read moreThe lunch that my wife and I had here was ridiculously overpriced and disappointing, as far as amount of food goes. We ordered a sandwich and the only thng included with it was a side of chow chow. The amount of chow chow was inside a tiny plastic container, the size you would have to put a few squirts of ketchup, etc in and had a lid on it. We ordered a sandwich for each of us and one tea which we shared and it came to $14 plus. That's ridiculous. Some fries or something would have made this sandwich order more worth the money. The size of the sandwich was just a small type hamburger buns size with a reasonable amount of meat on it, but really not that much. The other couple we were with ordered a plate of brisket, sliced pork, macaroni and cheese and fries. The macaroni and cheese was terrible. It was just some noodles sitting in a puddle of off white runny juice. This place needs to work on their sides and/or prices for what you get. We won't go back. We drove a good distance to get here and it was very...
