This is my first time here. The food was delicious and the staff seemed to work as as a team. Multiple people asking if we were okay and if we needed anything. The only complaint I have is the main server almost seemed defensive when we asked for things. An example, one of us asked for a box several times. The last time we were asked she said she is really busy and will get us one. It was obvious to us the place was really busy and just a reminder since we waited patiently for it and she came to the table asking if we needed something again. The 2nd example was a nice lady came to drop off a basket a chips. It was loud on the patio so when I asked for a straw, I was doing hand signals for a straw and pointed at it. The server stopped me and said "she DOES NOT understand you" like I was insane for trying to ask her. How am I suppose to know if someone doesn't speak a certain language? I would have opened google translate if i'd had known. But she understood my hand signals and pointing at a straw because she went to get me one. I truly think the food, atmosphere, supporting staff kept my review at a 5. If it didn't have those, it would have been lower due to the main server for our table.

I was amazed at the whole experience! The best service I’ve ever had at a Mexican restaurant! The food was perfect! Drinks were amazing! Sat in a wonderful seating area that felt very private and had great ambient lighting. I can’t wait to go back and enjoy some more delicious food. Only downside is that it can be pretty pricy. But I believe the food and service are very much worth it! Edit: 08-04-2021 - Second visit to Margarita Grill and dare I say, it was better than the last. We had an AMAZING waitress and her name was Marlene. She made the experience feel natural, instead of others where it feels like they are just doing their job. We had a good conversation throughout the meal, she kept it short but entertaining and informative. Also, surprisingly, when we asked for to-go plates, she didn't just bring us the boxes, she put our food INTO THE BOX FOR US!! This woman is on the next level, service-wise. I will definitely be coming back here again. Not even to mention, best food I've ever tasted, for the second time. 😋 My friends agree as well. Thank you, Marlene, you deserve a raise!!! 🥰

Traveling through Birmingham and with the strong recommendations, we gave Margarita Grill a try. 9pm on Thursday and the place was busy, so our expectations of a good meal were elevated. Sadly, we were very disappointed. The “kid’s pizza” was nothing short of a little tomato sauce and melted cheese on bread. (Yeah, my daughter always gets cheese quesadillas but she wasn’t in the mood… life lesson: don’t order pizza at a Mexican restaurant). Grilled chicken nachos appetizer (to split) except 1) the chicken was obviously grilled but otherwise lacked seasoning and was in 1” chunks, 2) the toppings were segregated to different area of the chips (tomatoes on one side, the almost melted shredded cheese on another area, and sour cream in the middle) and 3) it wasn’t good. Beef taco a la carte was very bland. The shell was crunchy and I loved the cheese but the ground beef lacked flavor and was very greasy. Service was quick and food came out in short order, but after that, there was not much attention or service. I had high hopes which quickly turned to dismay and disbelief. Prices were fairly expensive and didn’t deliver as hoped. All in all, our evening meal was very disappointing. I feel very sad for others that said this was the “best Mexican food ever tasted.” Clearly, I do not agree.

This restaurant is surrounded by hotels right off the interstate. We arrived at prime dinner rush time yet were still seated right away . Service was good not great but they were very busy . I think it took longer to get our drinks than it did our food once we ordered it . The kitchen was definitely getting the food out supper quick. My wife's drink arrived even later and the first glass had a hair on it . The waiter quickly replaced it but it was never taken off the bill . The food was really good . Even the chips and salsa I put ahead of your standard chips and salsa. Chips appeared to be freshly cooked and seasoned with a sprinkle of salt which doesnt usually happen . The salsa was fantastic. Could taste the freshness off the cilantro in it . All of our food arrived looking great, hot and tasting great . Not sure why but if you want steak on anything it was significantly more expensive than chicken or seafood . 31 dollars for steak fajitas seems high to me . Overall a very good meal and it was within walking distance of our hotel .

Had a great experience at Margarita Grill, but I’ll mention the funky bleach smell in the lobby… probably from the restroom doors being open (hey, at least it means they are cleaning). It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but definitely noticeable. We were part of a large group of 22, including several kids under 10, and the staff handled it expertly. Service was fantastic, especially given the size of our party. We sat on the outdoor patio and enjoyed a great live rockabilly performance… such a cool atmosphere. The cornhole board kept the kids entertained while we waited for our food. I had the Judy’s Gold chicken, and we started with the queso dip. The chips were high-quality… crispy, thin, and not too salty. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The fresh pico and avocado that accompanied the dish were a nice touch. Overall, a great experience, and we’ll be back, just wish that lobby smell had been better!

To me, the best part of this restaurant is the building and atmosphere. The customer service is decent, but the waiter we had wasn't really attentive. Our waiter probably came to our table 4 times while we were there for approximately an hour and a half. Once to bring the table chips out, the food out, refill our drinks once, and to bring us the check. I point that out as I had to call two different people to either refill chips and or bring a different type of salsa. Unfortunately, the food wasn't good. The beans were runny and tasted watery, and my chimichanga had way too much cheddar cheese to the point it didn't even taste like Mexican food. There was nothing special to it. Although I think it is a great space with good entertainment, I can't see myself returning there to eat.
