Read moreJolibee is a Filipino specialty fast food restaurant that was founded in the Philippines in 1975. The company has been expanding in the US and has opened its first location in Pembroke Pines.
The restaurant has a huge following which was made apparent on opening day with a line of people leading into the parking lot that ultimately led to about a 90 minute wait to pick up the food we ordered. The food was not any closer to dying down when we left after eating our food. This of course is anticipated on opening day of any type of establishment like this so we knew what we were getting ourselves into when we went around dinner time.
The restaurant has a more unique menu for a fast food establishment with the primary items being chicken, spaghetti, palabok, and burgers. We ordered the six-piece Chickenjoy bucket (half spicy and half traditional), a Spicy Chickenwich Deluxe, Jolly Spaghetti, a Cheesy Yumburger, a Peach Mango Pie, and a Pineapple Quencher.
Chickenjoy bucket: The chicken was moist, juicy, and crispy. If spicy chicken is ordered, then it is clearly labeled with a small flag on the chicken itself. If you can tolerate a little heat then I recommend getting the spicy version as it adds an additional layer of flavor without the spice being overpowering.
Spicy Chickenwich Sandwich: The deluxe version of this chicken sandwich comes with lettuce and tomatoes. This was personally my favorite item which I ordered. The spiciness of the chicken is a little bit more spicy than other competing fried chicken sandwich restaurants which I prefer. Portion size was good and all ingredients looked and tasted fresh.
Jolly Spaghetti: The spaghetti contains bits of hotdog and the sauce has a slightly sweet hint of flavor to it. A fan of spaghetti? Get this.
Cheesy Yumburger: The burger's patty is small and the taste profile reminds me of similar burgers found at McDonald's. Is this a bad thing? Not at all if you're in the mood for it. The mayo-based sauce included in the burger gives it an edge over the aforementioned restaurant.
Peach Mango Pie: This reminded me of when McDonald's used to fry their apple pie dessert. Good if you want a sweet treat but nothing to write home about.
Pineapple Quencher: A sweet pineapple juice to wash everything down. I typically don't prefer items with pineapple as a primary flavor but this was pretty good.
My final thoughts about Jollibee are overall positive. Despite how incredibly busy opening day was, all staff at the restaurant were patient and polite. There was not a single item that I ordered which I regret paying money for. This place adds another chicken sandwich to Pembroke Pines in the ongoing Chicken Sandwich Wars. While I would not put it above some of the competition, I would say this is a great option that locals should try if they are craving something slightly different from the traditional fast food options...

I seldom write reviews, but if I can save just one person from having the worst experience as a customer, then this post would have been worth it…
TLDR: I wouldn’t recommend this place to my family and friends. I would tell them to spend their money elsewhere. The chicken at this restaurant, as another reviewer put it, is NOT the best. If you add that to the fact that Randy, the store manager, is extremely rude to his customers, it’s not worth it. Go to PDQ across the street instead. The food here is not at all impressive and so pricey considering it's fast food.
The manager, Randy, is unprofessional and lacks empathy.
We made sure to call before getting there to see if they had curbside pickup for an order close to $100. We wanted to do curbside because we live with our elderly diabetic mother who is having an active Asthma flare and didn’t want to put her at risk in the midst of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Now, if they had said from the start that they didn’t have drive-thru or curbside pickup, we would have gladly gone elsewhere.
But, we were told on the phone that someone would take the food outside. When we got there, Randy, the manager, stopped the worker from going outside to help us with the food because of some policy. My sister spoke with him on the phone to try to understand why we were given the wrong information. But instead of being apologetic, he rudely asked her why she “can’t just go inside”.
So customers must explain to businesses now why they can’t do things? What country do we live in?
No wonder this place has been inundated with bad reviews lately. Don’t waste your time, energy, and money. I won’t be going back.
The only positive thing I can say about this experience is kudos to Aimerie who took our order. She went above and beyond by offering to take the food outside for curbside pickup. Jollibee did great by hiring someone like her. I was so impressed with her ability to show compassion and care for the customer.
Long story short, we felt really disrespected by the manager, Randy, so we left without our order. It was lunchtime and I have insulin resistance so my blood sugar levels dropped quickly. I started to shake and got really dizzy. We ended up driving to the PDQ across the street and did a drive-thru. We got our food in a couple of minutes. It was a blessing in disguise because we loved PDQ’s offerings. Try their chicken tenders! Our new family favorite. We will be telling everyone we know about this...
