I wanted to give two separate reviews, but from my research, Google won't let me, so I'll give two here and average the scores.
I work 60-75 hrs/week, so I generally order take out. The first time i ordered food from here, I was absolutely astonished by just how delicious it was. I then ordered take out three more times that same week. We have ordered the vegetable lasagna, three layer lasagna, the chicken lasagna, the chicken and the eggplant parmigiana, the gnocchi with pesto, etc. - all amazing. The dessert counter is beautiful; the portions are huge and delicious. I couldn't say enough good things. We have ordered take out more than 20 times in not too many months. I would, definitely, say 5 stars.
Now, let me talk about my dine-in experience. We went early last Saturday, before 6, for my birthday. It wasn't crowded. There were three of us and we sat in the back.
We had to ask for a place setting of napkin and utensils. Never once, during the meal, were we offered bread or water. We had to go hunt for someone each time to ask. ..every single time! They would fill the one who asked, and then quickly walk off before checking the others.
Our food didn't come out at the same time.
I ordered the split pea soup, along with the octopus and fava bean salad with lemon vinaigrette. The soup was great.
I know that many restaurants who serve octopus may not do the greatest job, but my takeout encounters were so wonderful that I wasn't concerned. The octopus was the worst I've had in many years. It was under-seasoned, flavorless, and as rubbery as a tire. There were 6 fava beans on my plate, mostly split in half. However, there were two cups of raw, chopped celery, which I loathe, on the plate. There was no vinaigrette.
On the menu, there is no mention of it being a predominantly raw celery dish. If it had, i would never have ordered it. It should say it is celery, octopus and 6 fava beans salad. I so wish i had taken a pic with the mound of celery and the few, shriveled, desiccated, black octopus.
I would like to have gotten something else, but by the time the waiter made an appearance, I had choked down the octopus and the six fava beans and given up.
one member of my party ordered a salad and a pasta dish. Both were good, but she wanted to take the leftovers home and asked for two boxes.
After being completely ignored all throughout the meal, the waiter appeared with the boxes, yet started stacking the plates for clearing, including the leftovers. he actually put the leftover plates on the bottom and squished the food under other's dirty plates. she didn't want her leftovers, now that they were partially stuck to the bottoms of other's used plates.
The third party member ordered the Italian nachos, the lasagna, and the tiramisu. the nacho plate was snatched before we finished. Since we had to wait so long for the dessert, we got it to go and it came in a box.
We would have ordered coffee, but we felt it would take too long.
I was extremely disappointed in my food and service. a cup of soup, 6 fava beans, and 6 bland pieces of rubber were not filling. I left hungry. Bf promises to take me for a "nice meal" somewhere else.
In spite of the HORRIBLE service, my nice bf still left a nearly 30% tip. For this experience, i would give one star.
Weighting all takeouts the same as the one dine-in (perhaps, not fair), i average to three stars.
I am so disappointed by my birthday experience, that I am questioning if we will ever go back, for dine-in or ...
Read moreDON’T DO IT! Thinking about eating at Sosta Caffee? Well think again my friend because if you do you’re in for in for a horrendous experience. Not only was food absolutely pedestrian (read as pre-frozen and incredibly bland), but the waitstaff and owner went above and beyond to be discriminatory to an African American family that came for dinner.
On Dec 19 when I came to Sosta’s I simply expected to sit down and decided between which pasta dish I was going to eat. Instead I had to sit there contemplating what would motivate the Sosta staff and management to treat that African American family so poorly that the Pembroke Pines Police needed to be called.
When the family walked in they were polite, took time to greet those around them and then stood in the queue. Yet despite them being next in queue, I saw the manager, who was wearing a burgendy shirt and had tattoos over his hands, repeatedly take every other non African American customer and customer request before them. Example requests included: “can you charge my phone in the back?” Doesn’t it make sense to serve the person who wants to spend money on food first? Strange I thought but hey it’s not MY business. When the family finally got up front I assume they mentioned this because before I knew it the manager was SCREAMING like a manic telling them to get out before he had them forcibly removed. Over some lackluster pasta?? I don’t think so.
Forgetting the vile nuclear waste that was my food, I began to listen with all ears because this situation had gotten on out of hand. The African American family never raised their voice and moved out of the queue to ask for the owner. The manager who's not the owner began screaming that he was the owner which the bartender immediately contradicted. As the family moved to leave the manager grabbed two gigantic plates of hot food and then tried to aggressively push his way against the woman in pink. He also began signalling he would use the plates as a weapon to throw at them.
Sosta should be ASHAMED of themselves for letting this go on. The manager should be fired. The menu should be incinerated.
I don’t want to see managers threaten people who have done nothing to them. I don’t want to see managers yell “you I would never touch someone like you” implying that the person’s race makes them a member of the untouchable class. I don’t want to see a customer have to call the police in order to have protection from the waitstaff.
I left. Others left. I beg you to be wise enough to not even waste your time walking in. You deserve better and I promise you a can of Chef Boyardee will be a better experience than Sosta Caffee did....
Read moreI just called to ask what the daily special was, and at first, the guy had no idea what I was asking. He didn't even know what the special was! He went and asked one of his colleagues, and I heard everything. He was so rude and lazy, like he didn’t even care to do his job. When I told him it seemed like he was too lazy to answer my question, he said: "You're not my boss," and "You're nobody to tell me anything." Let me remind you, I am NOT your boss, but I, along with every other customer who comes to this place, are your bosses. If we, the customers, don’t spend money, you don’t get a paycheck. If we don’t go to the restaurant, the restaurant closes, and YOU lose your job. Isn’t that a hard truth?
I am beyond disappointed by the service I received in Pembroke Pines. It’s heartbreaking that this is the level of customer service in Miami. This was a Colombian guy who served me, and I’ve always known Colombians to be known for their great customer service. I don’t know what happened today maybe he wasn’t in the best mood but he lost me as a customer today. I was going to bring 14 people from my company here because I’ve heard the food is good, but now that won’t be happening. You just lost a big group of potential customers due to this person's disgusting and appalling attitude.
I have the entire call recorded, and I’d be more than happy to share it with the owner if they want to hear for themselves how rude and unprofessional this guy was. I recorded everything, and I have proof of how poorly he treated me over the phone. My heart is broken. I’ve never been treated so poorly when trying to purchase food. It’s shocking!
The customer service in Miami is getting worse by the day, and the owners of this business NEED to educate their staff on how to properly treat customers. I was so angry, I lost my appetite! I literally could not continue with my meal plan because of how disgusted I was.
I’m offering the owner or manager a chance to reach out to me. Let me show you how to teach your employees to treat customers with respect. I have everything to back up my claims. I’ll be posting this call on social media to raise awareness, so businesses understand the importance of proper customer service and don’t make the same mistake.
When I asked him if he was lazy, he didn’t apologize. Instead, he argued with me as if he were in a street fight with someone or just bumped into someone on the metro. I’m truly shocked by this experience. This was the last straw. This is the WORST customer service I’ve ever...
