After 4+ years of loving Sufrat, one rude server ruined my sister’s birthday.
This past Sunday night, what should have been a wonderful birthday celebration for my younger sister was completely spoiled by an unprofessional and rude server. For context, my family and I have been dining at Sufrat for over four years. We drive about 40 minutes each way because the food is exceptional, the atmosphere is lively, and the service has always matched the experience– or at least in the past. Sufrat has been our go-to spot after visiting my late father’s gravesite, for birthdays, and for hosting out-of-town guests. That’s how meaningful this restaurant has been to us, and why my sister specifically chose it herself for her special birthday night.
Unfortunately, this visit was super disappointing. From the moment we walked in, a curly black-haired, tan-skinned female server (whose name I unfortunately did not catch) set a negative tone with a snarky comment to the hostess about closing soon, without even addressing us and before we were even seated. Throughout the evening, her demeanor was rude and dismissive. She tried clearing plates while they were still full, including my mother’s, and messed up the birthday request we had arranged in advance. When the staff brought out the birthday dessert, this same server placed it in front of the wrong people MULTIPLE times, despite being told exactly who the birthday girl was (she was literally the only one in green??). Worst part- she snatched my sister’s plate away while she was clearly transferring her meal into a takeaway container. My sister ended up going to bed hungry on her own birthday because of this ridiculous and unprofessional behavior from the server. Food that we paid for! We even came in already super hungry because we had to postpone dinner due to travel arrangements.
The “happy birthday” song itself was rushed, unannounced, and so poorly executed that we didn’t even have time to pull out our phones to capture the moment. What should have been a nice highlight to remember and THE moment for the birthday girl to feel warm and special, turned into an awkward and humiliating scene. I felt terrible for her and embarrassed that she received such a horrible experience for the dinner celebration we planned especially for her.
This was a complete breakdown of customer service and basic respect, and a repeated pattern of rude, unprofessional, and negligent behavior from the same server. My family and I have spent years recommending Sufrat to friends and relatives and choosing it for meaningful occasions, but this experience has soured that relationship. A night meant to make my sister feel cherished instead made her feel unwelcome and ridiculed.
Sadly, I can no longer recommend Sufrat. Birthdays only come once a year. If you are celebrating a loved one’s birthday, I STRONGLY suggest choosing another restaurant where your special occasion won’t be ruined, and instead will be treated with the intentional care and respect...
Read moreWhile in Miami, we were searching for a place to have lunch and came across Sufrat Mediterranean Grill. The restaurant immediately caught our attention with its beautiful ambiance, giving off a high-end yet welcoming vibe. The decor was elegant, and the setting felt perfect for a relaxed lunch.
One of the highlights for me was that the restaurant offered a Kid's Menu, which was a big relief since I had an infant with me. This made it much easier to choose something suitable for my little one.
After exploring the menu, we decided to order a variety of dishes to share:
Grilled Chicken Platter from the Kid's Menu Veggie Platter Chicken Shawarma Platter Shrimp Kebab Platter Chicken Wings The service was prompt and friendly, and we received our order within 15-20 minutes. The staff was attentive and ensured we had everything we needed, especially when it came to accommodating my infant.
We started with the Grilled Chicken Platter, which came with rice. It was perfect for my child--the chicken was tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. My little one loved it.
Next, we moved on to the Veggie Platter and the Chicken Shawarma Platter. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The veggie platter had a variety of fresh, well-seasoned vegetables that paired wonderfully with the accompanying sauces. The chicken shawarma was tender, perfectly spiced, and full of flavor, served with a generous portion that was just right for one person.
Then came the Shrimp Kebab Platter and the Chicken Wings. The shrimp was cooked well, with a nice texture and good seasoning, but it felt like something was missing--it didn't quite have the same burst of flavor as the chicken shawarma platter. However, the Chicken Wings made up for it. They were juicy, delicious, and coated with the perfect blend of spices, making them an instant favorite for everyone at the table.
Overall, Sufrat Mediterranean Grill offered a fantastic dining experience. The food was flavorful, portions were satisfying, and the ambiance added to the...

First and foremost, I love sufrat. I come here often. However I like to call balls balls and strikes strikes. There's been a consistent pattern when I visit and I get a waiter called David(!wears David if there's another David). David works the night shift it appears and he was there last night. He lacks the consistent customer service I have experienced when I visit sufrat. He is slow, inattentive and simply put does not care. Just last night when we came here to eat, it took easily 10 mins for him to get our order. Once we got the food, other waiters had to help us with things such as napkins and adding to our order because David was MIA. Again, nothing out of the ordinary from past experiences with him. We are always lucky (sarcasm) to get him when we go at night... I don't know why. At the end of our meal, we waited and waited for David to check on us and bring our bill. As I stood up to look for him, Mr. David had already removed the white shirt that's part of his uniform and was sitting at a table hanging out with his friends. I was appalled because he never once told us his shift was over...let alone that someone else was taking over our table. I had to ask another waiter, yet again, to attend to us and bring us a to go box and our bill.
This is unfortunate because again I love sufrat and this is not consistent with their service....which tells us what the problem is.
Management: I do hope you are able to address this as I am certain I am not the only one who experiences this.
Past experience before David.
Delicious food and excellent hospitality delivered by our waiter Ali. Thank you. We...
