So I was just introduced to Lucy’s In The Square this week. I have a friend who is a regular there and she took me there so I could try them out. Now one thing that is cool about Lucy’s is that it’s off the path of what seems to be the main downtown streets in Pensacola. We were there during Gallery Night and it was a little bit away from the busyness of that scene. Lucy’s has seating outside but we chose to sit inside. We were able to easily find a seat and we were greeted by the staff. I believe the person who waited on us was named Alex. She quickly brought out 2 waters. That was very much appreciated because it was hot outside and I had begun to sweat. Alex got our drink orders and very soon our food orders. I ordered tacos because my friend recommended them or the flatbreads. I had the Steak + Blue, Cali Chicken, and the Shrimp tacos. I will say all the tacos were excellent. If I had to rank them I would say Steak then Chicken and then Shrimp. To be honest I probably ranked Steak the highest because I sate that one first. And in another case of honesty, the only reason I ranked Cali chicken over the Shrimp was because of the sauce on the Cali chicken taco. It was really good. I would definitely like to try more items here. I love the food and atmosphere here.

We came down to the square for the Seafood Festival on Friday night. After walking the grounds and seeing any food in the stands that suited our mood we decided to stop by Lucies. Wine and sharables. It sounded worth a try. We found a quiet corner table in a small interior room. There was another couple in the room and a football game on but it wasn't distracting. We ordered Greek Salads and the Nachos. It was all great. Lots of feta sprinkled on a delicate bed of greens. The nachos were plenty to share. The chicken was a tad dry initially but the server brought some sauce that made it quite tasty. We accompanied it with a nice bottle of pinot noir. The attentive server had us taken care of in a flash. It's a homey place. We enjoyed the food and felt we received good value for our money. We'll be back.

It was my friend's birthday, so we stopped by Lucy's to have a drink and something to eat. It was Tuesday and taco Tuesday was in full affect. We looked the menu over and then decided we wanted margaritas to start off. Unfortunately, Lucy's does not have a liquor license, so the margaritas were wine based. My friend and I ordered 2 margaritas, and even though they had good flavor they just didn't compare to margaritas that we were tuned up for. After eating the chips and salsa that we ordered, we decided to leave. Service was absolutely amazing and I can't speak for the food but it looked delicious. The chips were yummy but the salsa needed just a bit of spice and salt. I definitely will give Lucy's another try soon, everyone has an off day and I completely understand that.

Deceitful business practices done here and serving sizes very small for the price. We met up with some friends during happy hour on Sunday (4-6pm) The special was half price on flatbreads. Because of that, we ordered 2 flatbreads which are regularly about $15 each. When they came the size was so small that my husband and I both said “thank goodness they are half off because $15 for that is crazy!” Then when we got the bill they were full price. My husband asked the waitress who said because barktoberfest had been earlier that day they weren’t doing the specials. The menu also listed the Sunday specials as normal. Also worth noting, Barktoberfest had ended before the specials started, and we had no idea it had even occurred having come downtown specifically to eat an early dinner.

We talked to the manager who apologized and said they posted on their Facebook page that they are not doing regular specials and had signs up during the festival but took them down BEFORE happy hour started. It seems like an absolute insane thing to do and the waitress should have told us before we ordered food, and especially when we ordered the regular special item. The manager said there was nothing she could do and she would not honor the specials because it’s just their policy and she had no control to correct things for us, even though it was not mentioned to patrons at all and only posted on their social media. She even acknowledged we were not informed since signs were taken down at the beginning of usual happy hour times.

Had we been told we would have ordered differently. Just bad customer service and a poor way to run a business.

We will not be returning and will advise others to dine elsewhere at least their money will be better spent.

The friends we were with visit frequently and had spent $100 there between the two of them for dinner (also ordering flatbreads because of the special and being upset they were not informed either) they will also be choosing another establishment from now on.

Edit: while it wasn’t the intention of the establishment to be deceitful; taking the signs down during the designated specials time that acknowledges that the specials (that are printed on the menus!) will not be available, expecting a customer to check social media for it, and not having the servers inform customers of this when taking orders all lend to bad business practices.

It is not on your customers to find the exception on their own.

All this could have been avoided with a simple “because there was a festival today we will not be offering our usual specials” from your servers. The fact that that is your policy (although strange) is totally fine and up to you and again had we been advised we would have ordered accordingly and this review would have been different. Hoping you take accountability and improve though price for value is still...

Such a cool location and neat concept but food and service needs a lot of improvement. I absolutely hate the plastic red cups used for drinks!!! Not enough ice in drinks for outdoor eatery. Had to keep requesting ice because for some reason they wouldn't bring a pitcher of ice for us to refill our drinks. Staff seemed frazzled, overwhelmed and although friendly seemed to be spinning their wheels. I ordered 20 minutes prior to the rest of my group. 7 in our group. ( due to lunch hour) and I was the last one to receive my meal. No apology was offered. Just a I'll check on it. My guess is it was taken to another table. I ordered the Chautaurie meat and cheese board. ( most expensive item on the menu $18.50 roughly) Sadly, it was nothing great. No different than deli meat and cheese from grocery store. Although my review is harsh its honest. My hope is it will be read and changes are made to improve as I loved the location and atmosphere but enjoy great food and service along with it. Best...
