I had the worst experience dining in. My husband and I decided to eat lunch at Sabai today (11/4/24) @ 12:58pm. I really love their Pad See Ew, I’ve had it several times in the past. We went inside and were immediately seated; note that there was only one other party inside and one party outside. Our waitress came out quickly to get out drink orders, we both ordered water. The waitress brings out one water and one tea, I immediately tell her we both ordered waters, she left the tea and didn’t return with the second water until she brought our appetizer 10 minutes later. We’d ordered golden bags for the appetizer, I’d asked (when I ordered) her to sub the normal sauce for sweet chili sauce, well she didn’t, she brought it with the sauce I didn’t want. I had to tell her that she’d gotten it wrong again. The golden bags were visibly overcooked, only the very bottom was edible, yet she sat them on our table anyway. We are now 40 minutes into our visit when ONLY my food comes out, what do you know, it was wrong! I’d ordered the Pad See Ew, she brought out Pad Thai (insert eye roll). She leaves before I notice, so I had to call her back to let her know my order was wrong order. She offered to replace my order with the correct menu item, as she took it back it clicked that she had not brought my husband’s food or acknowledged that he was going to need to continue to wait. So, before she got all the way to the back, I asked where his food was, she said that “oh I think the wings were frozen so it’s taking longer.” I realized in that moment with the culmination of events that she CLEARLY did not want our business. I’m not the person who can’t overlook a mistake, we are all human, but to mess up that many times tells a different story. While she did have a pleasant attitude, we all know it’s not what you say it’s...
Read moreI posted a 5 star review for SaBai almost a year ago. That's why I was excited to go here again for a special occasion during their 5th Anniversary celebration - however, this restaurant has gone down hill SO much that I'm editing my review as such: The food was sub par. Chef's Curry was bland and watery and not even lukewarm when served. I was also informed that they were "out of soy sauce" for the rice (how is that possible?) The "Basil Rolls" looked and tasted nothing like the basil rolls from a year ago. They were filled with iceberg lettuce and carrots and loosely rolled so they fell apart when picked up. They were also cut like sushi rolls instead of the way they always served them in previous times (see the two photos I posted here - the one with the two long basil rolls is from a year ago and the other photo is the poor attempt at rolls two days ago). I also ordered four orders of the basil rolls and when it arrived one plate had 7 pieces "sushi style" and the other had 8 - I'm not sure why one plate had more than the other. The service was horrible, they were either understaffed or the new staff wasn't trained well enough to provide good service. The "atmosphere" was disgusting. We were sitting across from the two bathrooms and one of them was "out of service." The other bathroom was emitting a stench of a backed up toilet. I was completely embarrassed dining there with my guests who traveled from Europe to dine with me in what I had described as a terrific restaurant. I was wrong. Whatever changed with SaBai it changed for the worse and it needs...
Read moreSaw their sign while taking my daughter to Cinnaholic, and thought I would give them a try. I was surprised that my daughter was very enthusiastic when she saw sticky rice on the menu. She is a picky eater, and she she absolutely enjoyed her beef pad thai, sticky rice and the egg fried rice we shared. My other daughter enjoyed pork pad thai & egg fried rice. I had the beef pad thai at 5 star spice level (daughter's got no spice/heat) and it was very good. Portions were generous and filling, tastes were delicious & flavorful. In fact, as good or even better than some of the places I've eaten in Thailand. Ignore the others who complained it was too expensive, I disagree. Prices are very reasonable when you consider the ingredients, prep, and their overhead being downtown. The interior was a bit small but cozy, clean, well decorated and pleasing. Since first trying Sabai about 3 months ago, this has been a every other Friday or Saturday night take out treat for my family of 3. The ingredients are always fresh & flavorful, the presentation (even in a to go box) is appealing and the take out boxes were not styrofoam. My daughter always raves about how good it smells & how appealing the presentation is when she opens hers. The order is always ready when they say it will be, and after 8 trips we have never gotten home to find something missing or wrong. This place is worth the visit, or...
