Big's American Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Peoria

Looking for something new to try with the family this weekend and we came across Bigs. We all love a little of everything and this place seemed to check it all off the list. We frequent this area and somehow missed this spot until our stop Saturday. The parking lot is fairly small, but we picked out and didn’t have an issue. We were not only greeted right away we were also sat as well. We ordered some drinks while we looked over the menu to decided on what to get. The menu was great and with so many amazing sounding options it was quite hard to choose. Since there were four of us we decided to start with the Sampler Platter which came with jalepeno poppers, chicken tenders, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, Mac n cheese bites, fried zucchini and potato skins. It sounded like a lot for sure, but we figured it would be like any other restaurant and they’d skimp on portions. Boy were we WRONG. Our server came out a bit later with it and we all about died lol. It was the polar opposite of small and even with all of us trying we didn’t make a dent. The table ordered half rack ribs, sausage pasta, wildcat burger and a cheeseburger with bacon. Everything came out looking amazing and again portions were huge. Marge seasoned fries they came with my burger could’ve fed us all. The fries were seasoned well and crispy. I loved them. The start for me was my burger the Wildcat. I love to try new things and it came with pepper jack cheese, green chili, grilled jalepeno and chipotle mayo. I know what you’re thinking. It was not as spicy as it sounds, but did have a great kick to it. I was able to finish a good amount of it, but I took an entire to go container of fried home. Our server was wonderful and not only kind but efficient. We didn’t have to ask for anything. All the employees we witnessed seemed to love their job which is awesome. No one was standing around and getting the job done. There is a full bar as well. There are tons of tvs for sports as well. We really loved it here, but if you’re looking for small portions this is probably not your spot. If anything I’d order something to share if you’re not a big eater. Great family night out. Tltr: short staffed 1 server for 9 tables, too many misters, no drink/happy hour menus, food runner chaos, you can spend a long time waiting around.

They still need time to figure things out. Went to watch football. The first thing was when you enter there's no "please wait to be seated" or "seat yourself sign". No podium either just a barrel on the wall with a computer to enter orders. We asked aserver walking by what to do and she said to sit anywhere. The only spots were outside which was fine in theory. But the misters were BLASTING. Everyone around us was talking about all the misters getting cold and wet. They have so many misters outside you can't get away from them. It was actually cold to sit outside. They were clearly short staffed. Food runners were going up to each table asking them if they had ordered whatever they were carrying. They had no idea what food went to which table. There are no drink menus either, the waitress showed us a beer menu with tiny font on her phone. We asked about mixed drinks and she said they can do anything, but we really didn't have an idea of what sounded good so just asked for margaritas and what flavor they had. She said just ask her a flavor and she'll tell you if they have it. I said prickly pear and the other person said strawberry. At this time we still hadnt received food menus. I'm not sure why they wouldn't bring menus when they first go to your table. The server came back about 5 mins later and said they don't have prickly pear so i went with strawberry too and asked again for food menus. We were never asked if we wanted water while we waited and then 2 of our 3 drinks were brought but i still didn't have anything. At that point we'd been sitting for around 30+ mins and no one had asked about our food order so we decided that it wasn't worth staying any longer and just got the check. Plus with the misters blasting and making it so cold any food brought out would be cold and wet before you could even finish. Maybe we will try again in a couple months once they figure...

So the service was okish waitress never asked if we wanted drink refills other then for alcohol (I had kids with me as well) she was overall nice. Don't remember her name but they had us seated in the back near the alcohol cabinet. She also ordered us one wrong meal, but they corrected. Atmosphere was good, definitely awesome bar vibes. Food LOOKED AMAZING BIG PORTIONS, but the food was absolutely TRASH. Two different burgers ordered and they had no flavor, the aioli sauce was fine but not to the standard consistency of a regular aioli sauce. Kids chicken tenders was okish, the Alfredo was trash had no flavor and lacked sauce, the chicken was dry. I forget what other sandwich that was ordered but it came with A1 sauce and that steak meat was like Jerkey. The buffalo wings were ok, the BBQ wings were okish. The chili on the chili dogs taste like canned chili. The alcohol beverages weren't great either, the mango mijito taste like flavored pepto bismol. Another special drink that is featured first i believe on the bar menu also taste horrible. The beer was great and priced ok. Almost everything in the ultimate sampler was subpar. So Overall all the food lacked flavored and I'd never suggest eating anything other then wings and maybe frys.
