Double A’s is The Fonz approved. Aaaayyyyyyyy!
I’m going to preface this post with this warning. I don’t remember much about Double A’s. Despite that, I will write what I can remember.
Double A’s is a place that I never would’ve known existed due to it’s location. Its not far from anything, it’s just lost in the noise of all the other bigger places in the area. But, a coworker told me about the place and swore that it was worth visiting. That’s all the convincing I need to visit a new place.
Matt, my girlfriend (the shy one), and I arrived for an early lunch on a bright and sunny day. We found the place well enough with GPS. Once we arrived, we headed in for pizza. Upon entering, we were greeted with a mix of a sports bar and sports restaurant minus the emphasis on sports. It’s weird. The place felt like it wanted to be a sports bar/restaurant but it was missing that core thing to make it so.
We took a seat at the table and decided on how to divvy up food between three people. Luckily all three of us had similar taste buds. I think my girlfriend and I split a pizza while Matt ordered a salad or something non-artery clogging. Along with the pizza, we ordered some ‘Cheddar Nuggets’ which are just deep-fried cheese balls.
Since the place was a bit busy, we had to wait awhile for our food to come out. That’s not a huge issue as we weren’t hangry and had plenty of random stuff to talk about. At last, the food was placed in front of us. All that was hyped by my coworker was about to be put to the test.
Call it a sign or call it what you will but I don’t remember what the pizza nor cheese balls tasted like. I do remember thinking it was decent food as I discussed it with my coworker the next time we worked together. Maybe since I am not a fan of sports, I wasn’t 100% dedicated to remembering the experience. Maybe this requires another visit that will feel like my first time all over again.
Despite the lack of details to share with you, I thought it would be great to share what I could remember with all of you. Maybe you live in the Peoria are and will check it out. Maybe you live 1,920 miles away and can’t exactly visit. Either way, thanks for reading and may you discover some tasty pizza in...

Congratulations to Me this is my 50th review! WooHoo!!!
Nice building, great parking and weird sign. Who are the A’s and does this place have an identity crisis? Is it a pizza joint or a sports bar or a grill? Those are my first thoughts.
Inside is just as you would expect it to be. Walls lined with TV’s, and the hustle and bustle of a Saturday night at a sports bar. The place really is energetic and it’s bright and clean including the bathrooms. We had a really good server and I like the modern POS tablet they use to order your food right from the table, excellent!
The menu selections were right on the spot including the kid’s choices. We ordered the appetizer sampler and as seems to be our usual pizza order, pepperoni on the whole pizza with one half sausage and the other half green olive. The food was presented nicely, it was hot, great flavor, ample toppings and it was fresh. I would also say I liked the wings from the app sampler and the bread sticks and I might as well throw in the marinara dipping sauce as well.
According To The Big Food Jerk
Who cares who the A’s are and after eating here there is no identity crisis. This is a family friendly joint. Welcoming to all ages, there were kids (including mine) to grandparent looking folks in there. If you want great food, great service in a welcoming and family friendly environment then I urge you to go to Double A’s Pizza Sports Bar and Grill.
Why the long name though? I’m...
Read moreWe were staying in the hotel just feet from this Double A's. We figured might as well give it a try. We had arrived a little after 11am. The restaurant was clean. There were three of us in the party. As we walked in, we were promptly seated, and drinks were ordered. We were told that the Pizza was the BEST in Peoria. Oh dear...the waitress unknowingly uttered the curse of all restaurant curses! Two of the three of us opted for the lunch buffet. Two of the three of us were disappointed in our choice. The salad bar was great, but that is where the greatness of my meal ended. The pizza was utterly forgettable. If this is Peoria's best Pizza, then please somebody needs to jump in and help save Peoria. Aside from that, my buddy had one of the best bacon burgers in his life here. Yay! Bacon saves the day again. Come for the burgers, but leave the Pizza at the bar. My grade for Double A's, is going to have to be Double C- I would be willing to give it a second...
