Today is Mother's Day. It was packed, but they're always packed so no excuse. Usually I get great service, but today not so much! The service was soooo slow. No one was greeting us for at least 10 minutes, but wait staff was around chatting. I didnt get my gyoza at all with my order. When I mentioned it to my server, it still took another 20 minutes. When it came, there was a big gnat in the dipping sauce. DISGUSTING! Not sure how the server didnt see it, but I called her back to point it out. She took it away, unphased and had another brought over, no mention of the inconvenience or removal from the bill. It was only until I addressed it with the server after we were ready to leave was the option brought up. She spoke to the lady that took the gnat away and it was removed from the bill. A shame that wasn't forthcoming. I understand gnats get into things, but you should be a bit more apologetic and accommodating to the patrons. Perhaps most would pick them out and keep it moving, but I'm not on the show Survivor! No reason to eat it or pick it out like it was normal. I was disappointed that was my experience on a day to celebrate me, a MOTHER who was being wined and dined by her daughter.
To add, I wish they would do some dusting as well. There were spider webs and dust EVERYWHERE! If the staff has time to talk, they have time to clean. I hope they see this review. We're still in a pandemic and folks are just teying to get some normalcy in their lives again. Cleanliness SHOULD be a priority so everyone feels safe to eat out with their...
Read moreWhen we arrived yesterday, Friday the 31st of March. We asked for a table for 5, the shorter of the two hostesses with shorter hair said do we have reservations, we say no, the restaurant had like 5 people in it. No big deal... moving on, she takes us to a table where two younger girls are seated, the hostess tries to set us up against the back side where a partition is...I say, I would prefer to sit on the side as I had a 13, 5, and 8 month old with my husband and I, she rudely says, well you can sit there and if someone comes you would move. I said that I would not move and asked her is she always talked to guests that way.. About that time, the taller of the hostesses arrived with three people so it worked out perfectly, no need to go any further. Food was great. We paid for our bill at the table, might I add, just under a $100. We get just outside the door to leave when someone from the front desk comes quickly to us and says can I see your bill. I say what, he says again, can I see your bill, I said, why, I don't have copy of your bill, I need a copy of your bill. So, I walk back in with him while my family went to the car all the while people staring at me as if I didn't pay the bill... Before he asked the customer for a copy, he should of communicated with other employees over the copy, one would think. Almost asked to talk to a manager at that point. Decided I would let it go. I will...
Read moreWe stopped in last Saturday and had hibachi - the food was very good and the hibachi chef was friendly and entertaining. And I am not certain what the first reviewer is talking about, but the food portions were very generous. I reckon there were more than a pint of fried rice, beef/shrimp, and a generous heap of veggies - more than enough for mere mortals like me, but perhaps not for a 300 lb NFL lineman coming out of a hunger strike. :)
The experience was pleasant enough that we went back for sushi dinner the next day and were very impressed with the creativity of the rolls, including the Lobster Lover and Tempura Dragon rolls - the tempura portion had just the correct amount of crunchiness (i.e. not overly done) that contrasts with and draws out the silky smooth avocado and eel in the rolls. I had only one other sushi experience that was comparable, and that was at a now defunct place in Morristown called Asahi.
I went back a final time for lunch and ordered the bento box, which at ~$9 is not all that unreasonable given you get soup, salad, gyoza, roll, and teryaki chicken. And by the way, the teryaki sauce is very good - it's much lighter and easier on the taste buds than the molasses-like quality of the typical teryaki joint.
So overall, I would definitely go back for more on my next...
