Butters Soul Food To Go – Philly, you did it again 🍴🔥 If you haven’t been to Butters Soul Food To Go (📍2730 W Girard Ave), then you are seriously missing out on one of the BEST Black-owned soul food spots in Philly. The food, the flavor, the vibes—everything was top tier. Let me break it down: 🍖 BBQ Pork Ribs – Babyyyyy, when I tell you the meat was falling off the bone, I mean it LITERALLY slid off. I even held up a clean bone on camera 😅. The barbecue sauce? Sweet, tangy, and finger-licking good. Philly might not always be big on pork, but THESE ribs? They hit different. 🧀 Mac & Cheese – Okay, y’all know I’m picky when it comes to mac. It was good, but for me, it could’ve used more cheese. Still solid, just not my fave on the plate. 🍠 Candied Yams – 10/10. Sweet, moist, melt-in-your-mouth goodness. If yams aren’t sweet, what’s the point? These were PERFECTION. 🥬 Collard Greens – Listen… I don’t even know what to say. 100/100. Seasoned to the soul. At one point, I put my fork down because they were THAT good. Like, wow. ✨ The cherry on top? Customer service. The guy in the back cooking was so cool and welcoming. It felt like family the second I walked in. Philly, if you’re looking for authentic, flavorful, soul-hitting food, you NEED to pull up here. Support this beautiful Black-owned business and tell them JASTINATIONS sent you! 🖤 #fyp #PhillyInfluencer #FoodReview #ButtersSoulFoodToGo #JASTINATIONS

The food was absolutely horrible, I quite enjoy patronizing black establishments, but this place, not only was the customer service horrible, and I gave them a pass because they appeared to be busy and extremely unorganized, but when I say the food that I spent $33.00 on was horrible, even the cake which looked delicious has this taste that I can’t explain, I just spit it out and rinsed my mouth out, the dressing is a disgrace to black peoples dressin, I don’t know what that mess was, the Mac and cheese was terrible, the yams I spit that out too, I have been cooking for years and I know what real soul food consist of, this place doesn’t have a clue, I was in town visiting Pastor Jennings church, I wish I could get a refund for not only this so called soul food, but for time I wasted waiting almost 30 minutes, after driving 30 minutes from the church to get there, and I had called the order in before leaving the church parking lot, I did eat some of the ribs, they were edible, but definitely not the best I’ve ever had, the rest of that stuff was disgusting, disappointing and a total waste of my hard earned money!!!

When I arrived to Butters Soul Food the atmosphere was very comforting, the gentleman at the front were extremely polite and friendly and I loved the free refreshments, the tea is amazing ! However sadly the food was not to my liking. I was excited to order because of how good the reviews were, even upon arriving there was an older gentleman coming in to get a quick bite and as he leaves he shouts, “butters got the best soul food,” after hearing that and seeing the reviews that made me even more excited to taste their food! However that was not the case. The disappointment was mainly the Mac and cheese and collard greens, everything was bland and tasted Burnt. The fish was great don’t get me wrong but the Mac and cheese tasted like stove top Mac and it was very dry. The Collard greens had a weird burnt taste as if the Bottom of the pan was burnt or something, also very flavorless. I would support again due to the simple fact it’s black owned and they showed stellar customer service, and in our community that isn’t always reciprocated. However, if I were to order from here again I would just go for a quick bite, like a sandwich, the sides I received were...

I googled this restaurant and read the reviews and decided this would be Sunday's dinner.

I am pleased with my choice. I ordered the smothered Turkey wings, Mac and cheese, and cabbage. My platter was smaller than I anticipated. I didn't even know that these platters came this small. Despite that, it was enough to fill me up (not enough for leftovers like other places but good for one meal). The platter included a small piece of cornbread which was scrumptious.

The Turkey wings were just right. For me, Turkey wings are usually dry even with the gravy but these were cooked well. That brown gravy drizzled on top burst with flavor. The Mac and cheese and cabbage were good as well. The cabbage appeared to have greens and carrots mixed in to it which made me enjoy it even more.

I plan to try their fried whiting next time and two other sides. (Review also...
