DISGRACEFUL SERVICE!! I received horrible service tonight at Crazy Sushi. Upon entering the restaurant, the employees were quite rude to me. I was with my elderly father and they were rude to him as well. Upon the completing our meal, I requested a plastic bag to carry my leftovers home. The waiter responded by RUDELY stating that he would Not provide a plastic bag to me. I then asked a different employee for a plastic bag. He then stated in a rude manner that he would retrieve a plastic bag. He then returned from the kitchen area and threw the plastic bag on the table in a hostile manner. As we were leaving, the waiter disrespectfully uttered "Bring your own plastic bag next time!" Then, upon leaving, my elderly father thanked the waiter and the other employee and wished them a good evening. They did not respond, looked to the floor, and gave my father a very dirty, rude look. We have never in our lives experienced such disgraceful treatment by any employee of any restaurant! Avoid this restaurant at all cost! Very sad that this dispute occured over a penny plastic bag. I watched them give plastic bags to other customers!!! I intend to file a complaint with the state commissioner on human relations & the appropriate federal agencies based on discrimination my ethnicity & that I...
Read moreFinally, I found the time to try out this place, and I couldn't be more pleased. It's definitely my new go-to place for sushi.
The atmosphere was great, with dim lights and soft instrumental music playing in the background. Very relaxing, and we could easily hold a conversation.
We got the Mango Kami salad, which was tasty and a good portion.
And from the rolls, we got the Philadelphia and Spicy Crunchy Tuna (the one on the left and the one on the bottom) with 8 pieces each, and from the special ones the Banzai Tree with 6 pieces and Fire with 8 pieces (the one in the middle of the plate).
Everything was super tasty and fresh. The Crunchy and Fire one were our favourites, and the waiter also said the New York is a popular one, so we'll have to come back and try it along with the desserts.
When we arrived for lunch around 3 p.m., we were the only people at the restaurant, and the service was super fast!
Overall: great and fast service, great menu with lots and lots of choices for all tastes, quite affordable for such a good quality, and it's open since very early and till late. Could easily be a spot for...
Read moreFood: We had low expectations after reading the reviews, but were quite pleasantly surprised. The menu is extensive, with over 86 rolls to try. The basic rolls are in the $6-8 range and the deluxe ones range about $11-13. The basic rolls we tried were on par with the other sushi joints in Philly, but they deluxe ones were very unique and quite delicious (Oceanus and One Night Stand rolls). Each plate came with a unique and impressive presentation.
Decor and atmosphere: The decor tries for a cool trendy vibe but doesn't quite pull it off. We were there on a Sunday evening and there were about 5-6 tables out of about 20 occupied. Another review noted the "paper towel" napkins. The napkins ARE disposable, but they are not paper towels as you might imagine.
Service: No complaints. We had prompt attention, but not overbearing.
Misc: Be on the lookout for Groupons or the like as it seems most everyone was there using one. Looking at the rest of the menu, they seemed to have very reasonable lunch...
