Solid, authentic, quality. Been a fan for years. Lots of good dishes. Great for eat in, or take out. Been had the meixcan cokes before it was cool to do so.
A longtime favorite of mine—solid, authentic, and consistently high-quality Mexican food. I’ve been coming here for years, and it never disappoints. Whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout, the food holds up every time.
The menu has plenty of great dishes to choose from, all made with care and flavor. Bonus points for having Mexican Coke before it was trendy—this place has always kept it real.
Que Chula Es Puebla has been a quiet staple in Philadelphia’s Mexican dining scene for years—and for good reason. The kitchen consistently delivers authentic, thoughtfully prepared dishes that balance comfort and quality with ease.
Whether you’re dining in or taking to go, the experience holds: warm service, generous portions, and deeply flavorful cooking that speaks to tradition. The menu is broad, with plenty of standout options, and it’s worth noting they were serving Mexican Coke well before it became cool to do so- just one more sign of their commitment to the real thing.
In a city with no shortage of taco joints and modern Mexican, Que Chula Es Puebla stands out by staying true to its roots. Highly recommended for anyone seeking honest, tasty...
Read moreI don't know why I waited this long to eat here. I've only heard good things about it, but I finally stopped in this morning. I was there early when they opened on a Sunday and they were pleasant and welcoming. We had our dog with us so Beto happily setup the outdoor seating. He even brought water out for her. Having lived in Texas for 4 years before moving to Philly, I've been looking for good authentic Mexican (not Central American) food. This is one of the best spots in the Fishtown/Olde Kensington/NoLibs neighborhoods! My fiancee got the lengua tacos and I did the Pancita/Menudo. The tripe and broth were so comforting. I was disappointed to not see breakfast tacos on the menu, but no fear, our super accommodating server Beto asked me what I wanted and had the kitchen make me a single huevos a la mexicana taco con chorizo. Their salsa verde is fresh and addicting. I normally don't care for salsa roja but the chiles they use in it are smoky and I ate more of it than I usually do. Their chips were also fresh and not stale, and the addition of cotija cheese with the broth from refried beans drizzled on top of the chips was delicious. When we paid our bill, Beto brought out free samples of their jamaica (hibiscus) and horchata agua frescas! Needless to say, we'll be coming back here again! Mucho...
Read moreWe thought the food was good. Or really better than good. The chile relleno had a subtly unique flavor that we liked. But we weren’t wowed. And after we were told to seat ourselves and given menus, nobody talked to us for about 15 - 20 minutes. Then they took our order and they brought us drinks and bean dip, but then we were barely acknowledged by a server for at least twenty minutes, probably 30. Our kids were getting restless and one started to cry, and we had been at the restaurant for an hour without getting our entrees so we asked them to prep it to go. They were nice about it and did so, but as we rushed to leave we didn’t realized we were charged a service fee. I think it was 18%. And because we were hurrying out with a crying child my wife didn’t look at the receipt and added a tip. I was a server for years and I am fine with an auto-service charge, but they need to make it clear that they are doing it, and they need to actually provide service! We really wanted to like the place. Beautiful artwork on the walls. And people were friendly, but they need to work on their processes. A few improvements would...
