ShiMiaDao Yunnan Rice Noodle shop is an excellent representation of Chinatown Philadelphia. I was told that this place would provide me with “authentic Chinese noodle soup.” Hey man, they did not disappoint.
SERVICE: excellent. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and attentive to all the customers. Although I was familiar with this style of noodle soup, the waiter took his time to explain how to prepare them at the table.
AMBIENCE: the restaurant is pretty small, but is aesthetically pleasing. The music wasn’t too loud that it was drawn-out conversations. The place appears kid-friendly, good for small groups of friends, or lunch with the family.
SOUP: I chose the original rice noodle brisket soup and the ingredients can be seen in my attached photos. The broth was light with a subtle buttery taste. It was even better after adding chili oil. A raw, will give the soup a 7.5/10. Although it wasn’t my all-time favorite soup, I look forward to coming back very soon and trying it with my wife and children.
Overall: 8.5/10. I can’t wait to come back and try out different selections...
Read moreDO NOT go here. This restaurant is so shady. We went out for Father’s Day dinner with a family of 12 people. When we got our check for a total of $189, we were told we will be charged for a 3.95% fee from the credit card company because I’m paying with my credit card. I was like no, the 3.95% fee was supposed to be charged to the merchant but the customer but they said I’m responsible to pay for. They displayed that fine print up at the register which I didn’t see until I was ready to pay up at the register. I totally get it when there are times I was told there’s a small fee when I used my credit card at certain store because I made a small purchase but this is a $189 bill and the merchant still want me to pay for the fee. That’s so unreasonable and I WILL NOT return to this place until they made any chance. Now that’s discriminating me using my credit card. The food isn’t bad but that’s just not the right way to...
Read moreI always pass by this place and never step in to try. I wasn’t sure if this place is legit or not. Hahaa. After I saw my friends went here the other day, I decided to grab my lunch there today. I am glad I gave this place a try. Nice and hot broth and noodle in their clay pot bowl. There were about 7 diff soup broth options to choose from and choice of meat are beef, lamb, and fish. Plus, all the little dishes that goes with your noodle. I will definitely go back again since my husband and daughter loves noodles.
There is no parking lot since it’s located in Chinatown, so be ready to drive around for street parking or park in one of the parking lot or garage nearby. Another note is that there is an extra fee charge if you pay with credit card. Based on my bill, it looks like around 4% fee charge.
