I was a vendor at the 2nd street festival and walked in to get a drink that I thought i saw at their outdoor kiosk and the bartender was sooo rude, I was taken aback. When I confronted him on why was he speaking to me that way he said he was tired and it was a long day...blah blah. You would have thought I was asking him for a handout and not trying to buy something as the nice gentleman who was manning their outside stand had instructed me to do. I don't know it it was because I was black(but I left feeling that) but I rarely EVER leave a bad review, especially for a small independent bsuiness but he evn seemed to make a show it to the point where the other man sitting the bar looked at him. I asked for a lycee drink and he was sayign "do you see any lycee? I don't have lycee, look at what i have, I said okay why not offer me something you do have. I am 52 years old and an educated black woman... I was made to feel like trash. When I asked him why speak to me like that and said nevermind and walked out as he dismissed me he is have a nice day ! I love you ( or something to that affect.. horrible behavior for someone in suchs a diverse and lovely area. I was shocked. I...
Read moreI have loved coming in here in the past. Great, no frills service, best Paloma in the city, good atmosphere to chat without having to yell. Until last night. The bartender was downright offensive, telling us we wouldn’t be served until she (and I quote) “couldn’t hear my voice”. Given this was our first cocktail of the evening and we were there to watch the 4th World Series game, my date and I sat there astounded. There were many others in the bar screaming intermittently at the tv and they received no such warning. To top off the experience, we saw the bartender blatantly pour grapefruit juice and water (no tequila) into a glass and try to serve it as a cocktail to us. She then short-changed us. Such a disappointing experience for what was one of my favorite dive bars in Northern Liberties. Needless to say, I’ll be recommending other dive bars in the...
Read moreGreat people make a nice club. A few weeks ago due to the weather my flight was cancelled I thought of taking the bus from Philly to Toronto and ended up near the bar at 12 AM and my bus was supposed to come at 2 AM, it was freezing cold and no shop was open and given the unanticipated weather I did not have warm clothes, I entered the bar looking for something to eat and save myself from the cold, but they do not sell food (or at least did not have any at that time), they welcomed me to spend my time there and gave me some Cheetos they had and insisted on not charging me for that. Since I generally do not drink I ended up having some non-alcoholic beers (nice that they keep those). All the people were so nice there and they all knew the songs they were playing, thanks Larry for the nice time (sorry if I do not remember your name exactly). Good...
