We went for dinner on Sunday night around 7. It was busy but not packed. The restaurant has a modern look, not overly fancy but nicely done. It’s a byob so remember that is you want wine or cocktails. We had the Red Ember Wantons, they were wonderful, great flavor and just a little bit spicy but not overwhelming. We added the shrimp spring rolls, they were average but served hot and fresh. We also enjoyed the Mala Spicy Pork Dumpling, they were nice and juicy with great flavor. After those items we had the very flavorful Black Truffle Mushroom Beef. It was served in a nice bit of broth with white rice on the side and we really enjoyed it. We finished with the Everyday Fried Rice, I found it a little extra salty, my boyfriend thought it was just as it says, everyday.
Overall the meal was very good. The service was fine. Order entered table side and about average of this type of restaurant in the area. Definitely...
Read moreDon’t worry, the service will catch up but everyone was super sweet and caring and this was during the soft open.
Now the fun stuff- soup dumplings sublime. The ribs fell off the bone! Chopsticks 🥢 were enough, I feared I’d need silverware. NOPE! The I had everyday fried rice with veggies chicken and shrimp. It was generous even in its shrimp 🍤. Flavorful Chinese dinner at last, right here in NoLibs! Now the ambience- Chinese restaurants are known for … well, looking same same, everywhere and a bit cheap tacky. Mana is gorgeous, tastefully decorated with beautiful tables and chairs, fit and finishes high end from ceiling, light fixtures all the way to the handmade clay ware. Sorry, not sorry Fishtown, finally we have a great restaurant over here.
Run and get a seat before everybody finds out what we just told you. Because you’ll never be able to get a seat and they’re really nice seats by...
Read moreMy wife and I have been lamenting about the lack of a good Chinese restaurant in NoLibs. We were really skeptical about “Modern Chinese”, but gave it a shot Sunday July 20th during their “soft opening”. The service could be tightened up a bit, but that’s why you have a soft opening after all. Super nice staff, really anxious to please. The food was terrific. Pork soup dumplings and the ribs to start were delicious. I had the Clay Pot Salmon that I enjoyed and my wife had the everyday fried rice. She really liked it. While perhaps not too “modern” it was really very good. We’ll return. A very welcome addition to the neighborhood. Btw no alcohol license, but we...
