First thing, click through on Google maps doesn't take you straight to a menu or order, a pop up appears that essentially blocks access unless you click out and back on. That's a killer for online ordering or catering orders. There's at least 5 clicks to get to a menu and you can only see if you start an online order, which will cost them business as quick business lunch buyers won't bother. So, fix the tech issues folks or you'll lose double digits from folks who can't be bothered.
There were ample staff in place, particularly for a counter serve place. I counted 10 employees which is likely new opening coverage but that's a good thing. All helpful and hygienic when handling food. Five stars here.
I ordered the afternooner along with the pasta salad, both recommended by staff. The pasta salad is basic, literally just spiral pasta with dry powdered 2seasoning and tiny bit of tomatoe slices so don't expect robust basil leaves, sun dried tomatoes or mozzarella or feta. Has a slight vinegar with olive oil and black pepper flavor. A bit drier than one might expect. It's basic to fine. Probably not worth the $4 side cost. Probably a $2.50 cost at best.
I also sampled the potato salad. It was too salty. It contains bacon so be aware of that as well. The saltiness overwhelms any other flavor which may just be today's batch.
Price for sandwich and pasta salad was $18 and change so not cheap. A half tuna, with Avocado which I ordered also to test ad that was their 'best' sandwich was $17 and change, again, on the higher side for just a sandwich. You do get a side and a drink for the half sandwich, which the size is sufficient for a lunch.
The sandwiches are not huge by comparison to places like Guidos but is sufficient for lunch, not leftovers.
The afternooner was a let down for the price. Minimal seasoning, a bit sloppy and moist for the mouth feel. Tasted mostly the olives and oil. Underwhelming and can't recommend for the price.
I wanted to be fair and give the tuna a shot. I sampled a small cup and it really was good. Well seasoned with excellent ratio of mayo to meat which is often and issue. A possible menuel cheat code would be to order a scoop of tuna and the pasta salad and mix for a hearty less expensive lunch.
The tuna sandwich was on rye. They added mayo to the bread which screwed up the perfect ratio of mayo to meat, so I recommend you ask for no mayo on your bread. Otherwise it had tomatoes, avocado, ($2 upcharge) and lettuce. Best bet here is to do a tuna, dry or with a bit of yellow mustard, on rye w tomatoe.
I also tried the other sides, white ribbon pasta with cream cheese and chicken. Fine but a bit bland, not too salty.
The Asian noodle salad had a slight soy sauce and green onion flavor but also mild.
Overall the staff and seating atmosphere were great. The food just okay, with the tuna being the highlight for this sample. I'll give it another shot and order their most famous sandwich, the unforgettable, next time.
In fairness, this location has only been open 3 days. Let's hope the atmosphere and staff remain solid and while I would pass on many of the food options relative to price, I would return for the tuna either on rye or on the pasta salad.
The drinks were Pepsi based products along with iced tea. I chose the tea and it was fine, not spectacular but not bad. It does have a distinct cinnamon aftertaste which I found interesting and...
Read moreWe were so excited to try this new sandwich shop! Daniella took our order and she was so nice! Came over with a giant cookie for my little! I ordered the veggie sandwich and it was the best sandwich ever! Veggies were all so fresh! Best part about it was the onions and chopped jalapeños! The onions were sliced super thin which is a huge plus!!! So many options for additional toppings too!! My son got the blt, he said he loved it! Very generous with the bacon. Our doggy got some good leftovers, the bacon was perfectly cooked ( I don’t eat bacon, but he told me ) and I could tell by looking at it! We shared carrot cake for dessert and it was very delicious! And no raisins!!! Our favorite part was the cream cheese frosting on top! We can’t wait to go back!! Also, the sandwiches come with a chocolate chip cookie and I had to have a try too! I ended up eating all of it! It was fresh baked and so thin and so scrumptious! Chocolate chip cookies are hard to get right but they got it!!!...
Read moreOn my way to Tucson with my friend who was visiting from Texas about 6 years ago, we stopped for lunch at Baggins. We both got the "Unforgettable" and I have to say, it is PERFECTLY named! This week my friend was asking me where they have the best sandwiches in Scottsdale, and I said, "Baggins in Tucson." I looked it up online to show him and low and behold, they opened one in Scottsdale a couple of months ago! We went today and it was just as I remember. The food is so fantastic and so is the service. Rosie, the manager, makes you feel right at home. She was friendly, helpful and just a sweet person who made our lunch unforgettable just like the food. We will be coming back over and over because I cannot say enough about her service and the food. Thanks Rosie for taking the time out to listen to my story and treating us like family. GREAT PLACE! We need one in...
