If you are looking for a place with great ambiance, well made craft beverages and an extensive, I mean EXTENSIVE spirits list of Top TOP shelf selections at seriously reasonable prices, look no further than Bar Bianco. The location is amongst the museums downtown Phoenix and is situated in the historic Heritage Square part of downtown in a very quaint and well appointed historic building: The Thomas House. Due to it being somewhat adjacent to ASU downtown PHX campus/university buildings and amongst the museums, you will be able to be around a more up-scale and discerning yet welcoming clientele; and from experience the crowds that migrate this way are not as up-tight or turned-nosed; i.e. snooty and overly judgmental as in other areas of the valley I've been, and the people around this area hold a level of sophistication about them. The staff are extremely attentive, friendly, kind and well versed in what they do. While I believe this is designed to be a waiting spot while you wait for a table next door at the renowned Pizzeria Bianco next door; I recommend coming here for the Antipasto plate or olives! This is also offered at the pizzeria but you don't have to wait as long for it over here. That said, it is worth the wait even if you did have to, but I have not had that experience. The reason for not providing five stars is because I am stingy with my stars and do not impress easily here in Phoenix and because I would like to see them open for longer hours on the weekends. Maybe one day after the city grows enough to accommodate and has the population/crowds to warrant later nite hours. If you are used to more cosmopolitan offerings of big city life or are coming from one of the diverse and inclusive 4 major metro cities, this is as close to home as one could get that I have found to date, save a couple other select spots in downtown. I so much appreciate them for this and it is really a great (no-so) hidden gem of downtown Phoenix! Molto...
Read moreWalked in order a pizza to go... bar tender was nice helped with my order... Got home found something blue in my pizza, quality control is very low here. I gave them a chance to exchange the pizza, but the hostess had to rub it in to me that I had walked away with the pizza (aka, a "to go order" so it my fault in short). Hostess stated kitchen is closed for 20 minutes (which is fine but there is a polite way of saying it). I think making a costumer who is will to work with you, to fix your mistake is not a chance you miss (I was disgusted by what I saw in my pizza, how much blue mystery product did I eat "WARNING"). Hostess missed her chance for a exchange by shifting blame on me for the pizza being a to go order (Hostess stated we don't do carry out). I just walked away not worth the stress (something like we are so sorry, we value our guest. Is what would have been appropriate/ appreciated).
I don't think I did anything wrong by getting a pizza to go, I'm sorry. Due to covid... I have elder at home 77 year old mother 85 year anuty (both on meds)... I try my best to protect them even if I can't enjoy dine in, but I would not want to eat here again.
What's that blue thing...
Read moreI want to give this place a good review but last night was a terrible experience. Yeah, the drinks are expensive, but on top of that the bartender last night completely ripped us off. My husband ordered a shot of Laphroaig but they didn’t have the nicer Quarter Cask. He settled for the 10 year which is basically the well version of a Quarter Cask. He photographed the menu which said Quarter Cask is $14 per shot but the bartender charged us $15. I asked him how it was possible the 10 year costs so much especially when a bottle of 10 year is $30ish at Total Wine and the Quarter cask is nearly double. He claimed it was the distributor pricing which sounds like a blatant lie. We would pay to go back to Islay again over coming back to this place, at least if that con artist is bar tending. We are watching for the charge to come through since places like this have had slick bartenders trying to double or triple their...
