BEWARE of theft from housekeeping and DISHONEST practices from hotel management.
I really had to see it and experience it to believe. My coworker left her purse in her room around 12pm with $140 in cash tucked inside. She left her purse in her room on a chair for 6 hours thinking it was safe because housekeeping had already come into her room around 11am previously that morning. She tucked the cash inside her purse in the same pocket she always does. When she returned 6 hours later around 6pm, she went to grab her cash for dinner that evening and where she left all of her cash was completely GONE!
Her, myself, and another coworker (neither of us were staying with her) flipped her room upside down looking for it. Her purse was turned completely inside out by three people. Meanwhile she is feeling like she is going insane because she specifically tucked her cash away in her purse pocket immediately before she left hours before. The other red flag that was noticed was that when she opened her drawer she noticed her drawer had been completely gone through because her belongings were not left the same way they were before.
We then proceeded to approach hotel management to report the incident. The manager seemed sympathetic and helpful, which was reassuring initially. Security came and asked specifically how much money was stolen and what type of bills they were. They reassured us that they would investigate because they could see who keyed in and out of the rooms and at what time. We were confident that they would figure out who took it while we were gone a few hours for dinner. While at dinner, my friend received a message from management stating to come to the front desk when she returned. When she came to the front desk around 8pm, they told her that no one keyed into her room between the 6 hours she was gone. She was dumbfounded to say the least and had no words or explanation for how this could have happened.
When she returned to her room afterwards, she went to put her belongings away and when she looked inside her purse, there was $140 REPLACED INSIDE. Mind you, this purse was turned upside down from three people total and when she returned to her room after dinner between 6-8pm it was “magically” replaced inside.
Here’s the kicker… the money that she found inside was folded in half… which she NEVER does because she typically keeps her cash folded in threes so she can fit it behind her phone. To top it off, the cash was placed in a part of the purse that she NEVER keeps her cash nor was the place she originally placed it.
It’s one thing to be violated by a housekeeper and have your things riffled through and your cash stolen… but my God it is a whole other level to not only be gaslighted by hotel management and then be violated a second time and have somebody come into your room to replace the cash…
Hyatt Regency Management, it was never about the cash. It was about being violated by a housekeeper when you are paying good money to stay there and feel safe. To see Hyatt Regency stoop to that level to gaslight a guest and violate them a second time when you could have just been honest about the situation. If your thought was “Well, she got her cash back at least” or “No one would believe her”, understand that this whole situation unfolded in front of the eyes of multiple individuals. She is not crazy and shame on you for doing that to her.
It was never about the money and if you think how you handled this was moral and the correct way, then you need to be removed from your position and learn a little something regarding ethics because you clearly have none.
I cannot NOT recommend this...
Read moreThis review is targeted to the Compass Restaurant, atop the Hyatt Regency hotel. We recently stayed here while in town to celebrate a graduation at ASU. We made a reservation for four of us to have drinks and appetizers at the Compass Restaurant for 9:30 pm, after we'd returned from a Diamondbacks game. I had called earlier in the day to let them know about our graduation celebration and the person answering the phone confirmed our reservation and said she'd make a note of it and that they would serve a special "celebration" dessert.|We have been to this restaurant several times over the past few years. We would arrive late, after a ball game, and order something light off their appetizer menu along with a couple of drinks. We had great service and the food was always excellent.|This time, we arrived at the restaurant on time at 9:30 and were seated. We were one of the last few tables with guests as the restaurant closes at 11 pm. We were given a dinner menu that also had a few small plates as appetizers. Since it was late, we elected to order several small plates. We didn't see the appetizer items we'd ordered in the past but figured they had changed the menu. We definitely should have asked if there was another menu but we didn't think of it. Our server took our order and only then mentioned that they had another menu that was late night fare. At that point, it was getting late and we opted to go ahead and have him place our current orders. He then came back with only one of our two drinks. We reminded him that we needed another and he brought it about ten minutes later. By now, it was well after 10:00. Our food finally arrived around 10:30 or so. It was nothing like the quality we remembered from our past visits. We'd ordered a bruschetta that arrived on burned toast and a shrimp appetizer that tasted like a pile of mush. The other two plates were ok, but nothing special.|After we finished our food, the server collected the dishes and offered dessert. He did not ask about the fact that we'd left most of our food on the plates. It was now about 10:50 pm. I decided to excuse myself and find him to inquire about the graduation dessert that I'd requested earlier. He checked ant said that there had been no note on our reservation but that he could still get it for us. About ten minutes later, he appeared with it along with a quick "congratulations'. It was now 11:00 and the lights in the restaurant were abruptly turned on, not flashed off and on but turned fully on. This is also a restaurant that slowly rotates 360 degrees and the rotating motion was also turned off. There was one other table with diners still eating and we all then sat there with the bright lights turned on and no additional service. No offers for coffee or additional water. It was obvious they wanted their customers to leave.|The four small plates and two drinks ended up costing $180 and was so disappointing, especially compared to our experiences in the past. I'm not sure what has changed but after this experience, we won't be going back. Even though our hotel stay was fine, The Compass experience left us with such a...
Read moreIf you want to pay for every detail & have rude staff- here it is. felt like I was walking into a sales pitch. I get the bells want to make money but it was too much. Hubs asked for a roller bc we had a lot of stuff and they kept insisting they’ll bring it even though he’s a capable man and said he’ll take it. There’s tips for every single thing. One of the girls rolled her eyes at me bc I didn’t leave a tip. I paid 2.99 for coffee & all she did was give me a cup. That’s after I stood in line for 5 min after she had a convo with someone Parking every day is 34 PLUS TAX No free coffee. At every hotel I’ve ever been to in the world and country, regular coffee is always brewed and free. I’m not using a Keurig in the room esp when i know what it breeds inside. They give u 1 sugar and 1 cream per pack. Only 2 packs. I went to a crappy hotel in Jerz and they had lemon water and the staff changed out the coffee. When I showed up at 8, they told me I had to buy it. Went to the counter and it was 2.99 for a reg coffeee BUT the girl said she shut it down so I can only orders cap. A cappacinno which cost $7 and made so bad it was like warm milk wrh a splash of coffee We had to change our room 3x bc they didn’t tell us that we had a shared room door. To our shock we could hear the slightest convo. We woke up to a woman listening to politics at 8am. They moved us into a “new room” for it to have the same. Then we were charged an upgraded room $20/night (the exact same room, no difference) to have one where we didn’t share a room door. Like wTF. I thought privacy was a given. We spent 2.5 hours our second morning moving rooms. I asked for a bagel/egg/cheese. I had to pay for the croissant egg cheese and a bagel to get the sandwich. My hubs didn’t want to eat buttery sandwich in the am. The omelet station is 20$ Our blow dryer was broken. We had a reservation where we’d be charged $100 for cancelling. We called for a new one. 20 min go by and we called again. 15 min go by and then we had to push our reservation. I went downstairs and the woman said we had called 15 min ago and I told her it was our second call so our first one wasn’t even logged. We don’t go out ever so this was distressing that we had to push back bc I couldn’t get a blowdryer. After 40 min, we got one. The staff should always be able to provide these types of things. U had a conference and a concert crowd in one hotel yet only 1 housekeeper they couldn’t find. The staff. The staff was so unfriendly. (Except the bellmen on our first arrival) Esp the BB people.
I guess the upside is location but I don’t think I’ll be going to the Hyatt anytime soon. U can get the same rooms, same treatment, but with privacy, free breakfast and coffee at a cheaper hotel with the same security.
There’s nothing worse than feeling like ur in a pretentious hotel that provides subpar rooms (our final room hasn’t been clean for a while with dust and dead bugs) when ur relaxing. Btw, the electronic key only works...
