My best friend in the entire world wanted a filet mignon (steak) to celebrate her birthday. The steak was excellent, I had the lobster. I am giving two stars instead of 1 because the valet parking attendant treated us with more dignity and respect than anyone else we met during our visit. Although we did not dress up, we both wore very nice leather jackets, I had jeans and a pair of 5.11 tactical trainers, a fedora, black vest and she wore leggings, a red shirt.. what I'm saying is average attire for us. We noticed most everyone else was wearing casual, she noticed a couple of gents who looked as though they never even fixed their hair since they awoke... so it had nothing to do with our appearance, or maybe it did? From the front door, to the receptionist just after we entered we were asked if we wanted to be seated at the bar, I asked for a table, and was looked over up and down as she was, the general vibe was quite snobby, I cannot think of a better term other than feeling very unwelcomed and awkward. We got seated at a table which was closest to the door, our server at the start was very rigid, as if he was serving royalty, and I was in the middle of a conversation he literally interupted me by putting the check right in my face, hitting my hands and forcing me to lose my train of thought and conversation. She felt very unconfortable thru out the entire meal. The chefs did come by to ensure our food was excellent and it was, they were the only staff that made us feel welcomed I believe another woman also checked on us she wa pleasant also but unsure who she was. I felt rushed, she felt uneasy and even got numerous hot flashes of anxiety, u sure why but I believe it was the way our server rushed us along and talked over our conversation multiple times rather than wait for us to gain his attention, I was able to calm her down, and being the last patrons there, we noticed candles being placed on seating as they prepared to close the establishment while we finished our dinner.I Asked her if anyone was looking at us odd, and she stated they were not, and analyzing the evening it was the staff who met us at the door, our waiter, being rushed out and presented with a bill in my face, the tone and treatment were very uneasy. I have been told this was a great restaurant, the food was over the top! We will not be dining there again as we felt we were made to feel we were not up to par with their regulars or high esteemed customers or even their staff.
Update: I really wished to go up a star, although over a week later, no response.. down a star, guess this establishment does cater and desire a specific clientele and we are not worthy. A reasonable person would expect a restaurant of this caliber to at the very least coorespond with their high paying customers to assure them this review is not true or at the least incidental.."Right?" it is! Sad, no wonder the parking lot was empty and only a few tables had patrons on thisnbusy Friday evening when every other restaurant had 45-90 minute waits. Very dissapointed as the food was excellent, it was the atmosphere and wait and greet staff that made us write...
Read moreThe ambience and service were below all acceptable standards for Morton’s. I would like to know how the GM, Adam Cook would feel to know that his server, Ryan, and his Manager, Craig or Greg, ruined my family’s Christmas. And I mean ruined. Robert is listed as our server, but he was the person who “finished” our service because we had to request to NOT see Ryan at our table again. While Robert did an okay job, he definitely added insult to injury. I have been to your location several times. In fact, my family enjoyed a lovely Christmas dinner at your location last year. My kids (15 & 17) actually requested to go to Morton’s again this year which is why we came. Sadly, they didn’t get to relive that great experience again, and they had to endure what was more like a scene out of an Applebee’s instead. If Adam Cook would like to call me, I’d be happy to share the details, but in short, our Christmas dinner was ruined. It’s a real shame that we had two extreme experiences from one place. I’m still shocked at how our situation was handled and grossly disappointed at how we were treated. We were not promptly greeted by Ryan and when he finally came to the table he said “is regular water going to be okay?” Not a hello, not his name, not a MERRY CHRISTMAS, not a thank you for coming in, nothing! I was convinced he was the water attendant because I could not imagine a server at Morton’s would be so awful from the get go. Our appetizers made it to our table before our drinks, if that helps set the scene for what horrible service followed. When my husband addressed Ryan’s poor service Ryan told my husband that he didn’t have to be rude about it!!! That’s when we asked Ryan to leave our presence and asked for the manager. He never asked us why we were upset or what had happened. He barely said he was sorry and acted inconvenienced that we asked for another server. Then the second server was just snide enough for us to know that he didn’t want to wait on us and that we also were inconveniencing his flow. Not to mention we had to be in Ryan’s section so we saw him several times, which is why my poor kids asked to leave! We were so uncomfortable at our table that our kids asked us to get it all boxed up so that they could finish eating at home. Then my son was concerned that the staff might have tainted our food when they took it to the kitchen to box it up that we left the food there instead. Can you imagine being afraid that a server tainted your food at a Morton’s?! Not to mention that it was a costly loss to leave our food there. SIGH… such a shame!!! Thanks to Ryan for making our Christmas dinner memorable in the most awful...
Read moreWe went to celebrate my birthday. I have not been to a Morton's in a very long time. It used to be my absolute favorite restaurant! I've been to many, to include Denver, CO, Reston, VA, Tysons Corner, VA, Washington, DC, San Francisco, Atlanta, GA, Rosemont (?), Chicago, the Original Morton's in Chicago, and a few others that won't come to mind at the moment. It was always special, and to an extent, worth the money. When you pay this much for a meal, it should be memorable. Every. Time. As I stated, it's been years since I've been. For many years, we lived in the DC area. It just got to the point, we hated getting on I-95 because nothing was worth the hassle. We've been in west Phoenix area for a year. We've tried a lot of local (relatively) restaurants. I wanted to go to Morton's for my birthday! I got a filet with bearnaise sauce. The sauce had always been, and should be, served on the side. It was served over the steak. They used to "rake" the bread crumbs from your table. A nice touch they need to bring back. Also, I missed the cart with the available options. A covid casualty? As I said, I haven't been in a long time. Our server was adequate. No complaints at all. I just can't praise them. Adequate is fine when you're paying a good bit less per person. My husband got the loaded baked potato. He said it was very good, and it looked good. My daughter and I shared creamed spinach and scalloped potatoes. The potatoes were good. The spinach tasted like grass and no seasoning. Also, it wasn't creamy. To their credit, they removed it from the bill (the only thing we spoke up about when asked). Overall, very disappointing experience. The food was not nearly as good as in the past. And neither was the service. Both were good, but not great. And for the price, I should be wowed! Also, shrimp Alexander wasn't on the menu. They were able to accommodate me. But it used to be served with more sauce and with rice. The escargot were not on the menu and were unavailable. "Out of season". I've always been able to get them at any restaurant at any time of the year. Is this the new "Morton's"? We have no problem paying a lot of money for superior food/service. (Admittedly, we don't do so often.) Unfortunately, this restaurant did not deliver. The chocolate molten lava cake and cream brulee...
