By far my favorite Mexican food restaurant in Ahwatukee! Very reasonably priced-- my favorite thing to get is a tie between the bean, rice & cheese burrito for $4.10 and the 3 rolled taco combo for $5 and some change. The same burrito usually costs me $6-7 at Filibertos, and it doesn't have half the flavor or same level of freshness as Papa Chevo's! I love that Chevo's puts little pieces of peppers and corn kernels in their rice & they always serve their flour tortillas slightly browned for burritos and quesadillas. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I feel their service could be better. It's not that they're rude, but they usually are not friendly at all and one of the cashiers is kind of a dingdong. I guess that's pretty typical of mom & pop Mexican food restaurants though. Overall, I highly...
Read moreMy husband ordered carne Asada taco, and it was plain as can be . If you wanted lettuce, tomato, guacamole or pico de gallo, you had to pay extra . I wanted bean and cheese soft breakfast taco but all they had was bean and cheese burritos. We're from Texas and you get pico de gallo for free . They automatically give you red or green sauce. We are traveling and it is hard to get food on the road. They're over priced . My burrito wasn't hot or cooked . It was bland as was my husband's taco . I'm tired of Covid price gauging and lack of food quality. I was really disappointed. My husband predicts that they will be closed in six months . I won't...
Read moreCarne asada tacos were pretty good. The shrimp tacos, however, had little to no flavor, with too much of this white sauce that I could have done without. Shrimp was steamed or boiled, would have been better grilled. So many places fail dramatically with seafood tacos. My advice, grill the seafood, season well, (salt, pepper, lime) and offer the usual taco fixings (lettuce or cabbage, pico de gayo, tomatoes, cheese, cilantro, salsa, etc.) Never knew why restaurants feel the need to use tartar sauce just 'cause it came from the sea...But...To each it's own, of course. Pretty good food though, I would go back. Just be sure to be selective with sauces...
