Pei Wei used to be our go to for great food. Used to be.......... I ordered a 4 piece California roll and a Pei Wei Spicy, which is the same as I had ordered going back at least 12 years and it used to be really good and good quality. It has been going down hill for the last few years and we have been eating there less as it gets worse. This last trip will be our last trip. First the entree was served almost before we settled into our seats and BEFORE the Calif Rolls (appetizer). The California rolls served 5 minutes later were fair at best and at $1 each. They looked and tasted like they had been sitting around for days. The young lady that brought it offered to bring me another but remember I already had the entree for a few minutes and it was getting colder. I get much fresher and better quality rolls at Safeway just down the street. The Pei Wei Spicy entree was horrible. It tasted more like Orange Chicken. The chicken was doughy and tough without flavor, not crispy and juicy like it used to be. The sauce was a cold sticky very sweet orange flavor, like it came out of a bottle. It had some thin slices of carrots and some pea pods which were better than the chicken. The rice was decent, but very sticky as well. As I said this will be our last time to Pei Wei. Too many owners and menu changes that raised prices, lowered quantity and quality. They also used to be packed at dinner time and we sometimes had to wait in line that was out the door, but now there are few customers. In a quest for higher profits, you lost what made...
Read moreI order here for the lettuce wraps, and today they were horrible. They tasted burnt and oversalted, and they were barely edible. In fact, I could only choke down a portion of one order, and then I threw the rest away, along with the 2nd order I bought. The underlying burnt flavor combined with the oversalt was just lovely - NOT. And the vege rolls had this weird underlying taste. Couldn't figure it out at first. Then it dawned on me. It's an underlying flavor of shrimp. It's like they maybe used the same deep fryer oil for fish or shrimp as they did the vege rolls. The chicken fried rice had 8 pieces of chicken in it, in about 3 cups of rice. Stingy much? And I paid for extra mushrooms, snap peas, and bean sprouts, and I didn't see much of those either. I also asked for extra sauce for the vege rolls, and naturally I got none at all. It's simply not acceptable to pay $65 for burned, oversalted meals, where the vege rolls taste like spoiled shrimp, especially when there are plenty of other delicious Asian food restaurants near me, managed by competent people. I'm not risking ever again buying this burned, oversalted food, with vege rolls that taste like spoiled shrimp. So congrats. Your food was seriously the crappiest food I've had in a long, long time. And now I'm sitting here wondering if it's going to make me sick. It's that bad. Save your time, and don't send me coupons. I won't be back, ever, and I'm blocking your emails. Your food is just too disgusting to...
Read moreFirst time coming to this location. I moved from Surprise to Phoenix recently and was thinking that I would experience the same as back in Surprise and we'll no. I did an online order and all I needed to do was pickup. There is two entrances here just like the other location. I went through the take out entrance because that is what it was. There was one person ahead of me in the non takeout entrance and they were being helped when I walked in. There was others that walked in after me. The young man helping customers finished with the person ahead of me and then helped another person that walked in after me, then another, then another, then another until I couldn't hold my tongue anymore. I counted about 5 customers he helped ahead of me despite seeing me standing there. I just walked to his peer who was handling giving customers their orders and I explained that so many people had gone ahead of me and please just give me my order. My wife ordered ahead so I can just be in and out but no on that too. She didn't acknowledge my complaint and checked on my order and said we have not gotten to it yet, we are still working on it. I watched as my meal was cooked right there. Why order ahead then? I got my meal and walked out. I am not happy one but. In a time where customer service is so important there was no empathy, acknowledgement or even a shred of care. That does it for me with this chain. Unless my wife really wants it I am not going anymore....
