Caneās Employee Tried to Steal My Card: A Cautionary Message for other Customers
Yesterday, I had a frustrating and troubling experience at Raising Caneās. I went through the drive-thru to order food, planning to pay with a $30 Mastercard gift card. My total came to $32 and some cents. I handed the employee my gift card and asked her to charge the remaining $2 to my credit card since I didnāt have any cash.
The employee agreed, closed the window, and left me waiting far longer than usual. The delay made me uncomfortable, but she eventually returned with my credit card and receipt. Assuming the transaction was handled properly, I left. However, when I got home and checked my banking app, I discovered she had charged the entire amount to my credit card and seemingly kept the gift card for herself.
I returned to the store to retrieve my gift card and confront the employee. She didnāt provide any explanation, and I noticed the staff whispering among themselves. I asked to speak to the manager, but the āmanagerā appeared more interested in defending the employee than addressing my concerns. She claimed the employee might have misunderstood and thought I wanted to discard the gift card or that it was an honest mistake.
Iām unsure if the person I spoke to was the manager based on her evasive responses. I pointed out that their cameras could verify what happened, but they seemed intent on covering for the employee instead of investigating.
Iām sharing this to alert other customers to always check their card balances after a transaction. Be cautious when an employee takes your payment and closes the window for an extended time; you cannot know whatās happening. If any unauthorized charges appear on my credit card, Iāll hold both this employee and Caneās accountable.
This incident has left me feeling like the āmanagerā may even have been complicit, as her focus was on excuses rather than resolution. Let this be a reminder to everyone to stay vigilant and protect your payment methods.

The service was just as great at this location! I ordered a 6 piece with an Arnold Palmer and 2 kids meals with honest apple juices. The cashier filled up cups with ice and handed them to me. Seeing as this was my first,(and last), visit to a Cane's, I had to ask where the soda machines were. He pointed and said over there. No big deal. I went to make the drinks and discovered that there was no lemonade for the Arnold Palmer and no Apple Juice. Went back to counter and he gave me some lemonade that was behind the counter and the apple juice that was also behind the counter.
By this time, my food was ready. I tasted a french fry, because, who doesn't taste the fries? Enough salt to kill a horse. I asked for new fries without salt. The manager said, " I'm sorry, we didn't hear you order without salt."
After a rapid fire response that, "I didn't!", they made a completely new order. No I had two complete full orders of food, instead of just new fries.
Got the food home, invited my sons friends to eat with us. NOBODY...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreRaising Cane's is my favorite fast food restaurant chain, I have been coming to this location for years and quite frequently when I lived in North Phoenix and occasionally still drop by if I am in the area. However, not all Cane's are equal. This location is a good balance of the pros and cons of the other restaurants around the Phoenix area. Some have drive through lines an hour long and others can't seem to get the order correct despite only having 4 meal options on the menu.
The service is typical very fast in the drive through or inside, more than 80% of the time the order is accurate and the food tastes fresh.
Any issues I have ever had at this location were promptly addressed by a manager and remedied.
I have also noticed over the years and probably almost a hundred visits, that the freshness and quality of the food at this location begins to degrade from 10pm to closing. If you want fresh, delicious, tender chicken, I recommend going here more than a couple hours before closing time - I am not going to take off any stars, as this is just in my own personal experience and based off my own opinion and observation, not...
