Rubio's Coastal Grill — Restaurant in Phoenix

Rubio's is a great place to eat. We don't go there too often, so when we do, it's a treat! We mainly used to go because they had delicious lobster tacos. However, they got rid of the lobster taco and added carnitas. Which was a bit disappointing, but carnita is still good. Anyways, we ordered the carnitas tacos and a California carnitas bowl. The food was amazing, like usual. Guacamole was a little salty but not too bad. We thought the carnitas tacos came with 3 tacos, but it was only 2. But that was probably our fault.

Service, for the most part, was okay. We were asking about things on the menu since what we normally got is no longer an option there, and the worker seemed a little rude/annoyed when answering. I understand if she was having a bad day, but please be professional and don't take it out on the customers. Hope her day turned around, though.

They didn't have tongs at their little bar thing to get any of the limes/lemons, so we had to ask for a fork so we wouldn't be grabbing them with our hands.

It is weird to give a five-star review to a fast casual restaurant, but the crew here earned it tonight. Not only was the food tasty and the restaurant spotlessly clean, they handled the customers with experience and aplomb. I had the living embodiment of a Karen in front of me, asking questions about everything on the menu and endlessly sharing opinions with no regard to the people behind her. The cashier helping her was unfailingly polite, and the expediter was tuned to the needs of others. Rather than stand there, he took off his gloves and started taking orders. This level of attention to detail and customer service has grown rare in the world and it very much brightened my day.

I love Rubio's! But let's be honest, some of the locations aren't that clean and inviting. When I came into this location and met Ed, the cashier/manager/one man show I couldn't believe how clean this restaurant was! Ed was hustlin' and bustlin' with a smile on his face. I've never seen an employee take such pride in their work, and it shows with how clean this location is. This man deserves a shout out and a raise! The food was fresh thanks to the cook in the back, I appreciate you as well! I'd highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a nice meal and even better service.
