Tacos are easy to make, and this place understands the simplicity of putting together a taco. At the same time, they also comprehend the complexity and devotion it takes when preparing the various meats to achieve a good-tasting taco.
TLDR: Good tacos. Staff lack attentiveness and etiquette.
First, the bad stuff. The young staff have a quite evident disposition that immediately gives of the feeling they do not care to be there or even provide decent customer service. Do expect to receive and warm welcome with something like "Hi, welcome to Taco Boy's, what can we get started for you?" or some variation of this. No, the first phrase out of the young person at the register was "What you want?" Then a series of "mm hmm" sounds and finishing off with a "aight, pay right there." while pointing at the small screen. I mean it gets the job done, but it certainly doesn't make me want to ever return and interact with the person again.
As for the tacos, they taste great! It's easy to tell whomever was responsible for creating the recipe truly understands the purpose of a taco. Serving portions are excellent and more than I was expecting - you'll be satisfied!
The restaurant itself is a typical taco shop. You won't find anything impressive or something you'll remember. It appears to be clean, but if you look closer you'll start to notice surfaces that need some attention. I will say, I saw one of the self-service sauce ladles fall into the green sauce container, completely submerged. A staff member simply put on a latex glove, reached in there, and pulled it out. They wiped the handle piece with a few napkins and left it there. I am not a health inspector, but I'm pretty sure a ladle's handle that gets touched by hundreds of people per day is likely not very clean. And if it falls into the hot sauce container, I would imagine the sauce now has all the "flavors" of a dirty ladle. I don't trust all people will wash their hands before they use and if the ladles to serve themselves any of...
Read moreI had a very disappointing experience tonight. My colleague and I decided to give Taco Boy’s a try despite hearing from some friends that they had gotten food poisoning here on two separate occasions. They had strongly warned us to avoid this place, but we were hopeful and thought we’d give them a try. Sadly, we should have listened to them.
My colleague and I placed our orders, but while my food arrived, my colleague’s never did. We waited and waited, and even noticed the employees standing around, looking at us, but not acknowledging the delay. After some time, I had to go up and ask how much longer it would take, only to find out that they forgot to put the order in. So, we were forced to wait even longer for my colleague’s food to arrive—by the time it did, my own meal was cold.
The staff didn’t seem to care and did not even apologize for the inconvenience. It’s safe to say that this experience was incredibly frustrating, and it only reinforced what our friends had warned us about. We won’t be returning, and I strongly advise others to consider alternatives if they value both their time and...
Read moreGuy, that took my order from the drive thru did not smile or seem very enthusiastic.. Ordered two bean and cheese burritos, and they are usually really yummy! I was very disappointed as both were more like a quasadilla.. was so excited to bring my daughter a burrito to try, and then she is like, "Are you sure u ordered a bean and cheese burrito?" Both burritos had maybe a tablespoon or two of beans... waste of money.. if they were out of beans, they should have told me, and I would have come back another time. they asked if i wanted vegies, i said yes thinking carrots and maybe cucumbers instead got a big container of pico de gallo.gave a 3 due to at least being offered vegies...weird..last ordered the same burrito and it was delish, although my carne asada burrito was full of gristle, only half the meat was edible. That time, the person at the drive thru was friendly. This is my 3rd time here, 1st time was amazing, friendly, happy staff and...
