Read moreThe place is long and thin, which isn't a problem but it could make coming to hang out with a ton of friends sorta weird, so know that before you go. I only had the pepperoni so I didn't explore the menu, this time. The pizza was good, decent sized for the $15 or so, and as a bit of a pizza nerd the dough is good enough that I also ate the "crust". Good chew and light and thin. That usually means (and it does here) that the middle of the pizza will be soggy while the outer edges rise up. This is fine, it tastes great. Beers at lunch we're $7 (church music) who that's fair, but I didn't see any option for a happy hour. They're still new so, whatever. I had great service from the bartender, fun conversation and she paid attention to what was going on around her. At one point I overheard her talking to the one server on duty about, "Yeah, we're new but I just want to make sure we develop the good habits now.." which is awesome to hear. Not as a customer but just as somebody who also takes pride in their job. Anyways, I'll be back and you should give them a shot. I'm excited to see how they evolve as they hit...
Read moreI don’t usually leave reviews unless something is exceptional or really terrible….. so here we go…..
We were exploring downtown Phoenix on a Saturday afternoon when my husband and I came across this lovely little hole in the wall called The Desmond. Upon entering we were immediately transported back to a little lower Manhattan Pizza joint. We were greeted by the most lovely bartender named Tatiana. She got us our drinks, a delicious espresso martini and a lovely glass of wine! While Tatiana was getting us our drinks. The owner Steven came over and greeted us. We asked him what his favorite things on the menu were, and he said the Barada appetizer. Although we did not choose the Barada, we chose a delicious sandwich and one of their amazing woodfired pizzas. During our lunch, Stephen showed up with the Barada anyway and said welcome to the Desmond, I wanted to bring this so you could try it, and It was delicious as well.
Thank you so much to the Desmond staff for a surprisingly wonderful afternoon in downtown Phoenix. I would highly recommend this place to anybody...
