I visited The Arrogant Butcher on my last visit to Phoenix. I made a reservation for 6:30pm on a Tuesday evening. I came in a told the hostess that I had a reservation and she told my friend and I that we had to sit at the bar. I asked if I could sit at an empty table in the corner facing a tv. I was told no because there was a reservation. The second hostess who turned out to be a manager told me there were no tables and tables were for reservations. I told her I had a reservation and she went through the reservations as she didn’t believe had one. I was annoyed because I could tell she didn’t believe me and after she went through the trouble of looking it was pointless because she told me I had to sit in the back of the restaurant or at the bar. I have a disability and said repeatedly that it was difficult for me to sit at a high table. I hadn’t ate so I just said don’t worry about it as I was hungry and didn’t feel well. I sat at the bar with my friend. The bartender was extremely nice and accommodating. She was helpful with the drinks and my lemon drop was amazing. My friend ordered some drink and said it was good. The manager did come back and apologize for the mix up and tried to get us a table . She also ordered us pretzels for the table which was kind . The atmosphere was really nice and I loved being able to see the food be cooked. I love the aesthetic. I ordered the spinach dip and it was very filling and it was good. I felt like the dip was good but was missing something. I’d give the dip a 4/5. The lemon drop a 5/5, the salmon 4/5, and the salad a 3/5. I was also unaware that the manager took our drinks off of our tab. Overall it was a decent experience and I plan to go back. I’d like to give them another chance and try their steak as the patron next to me ranted and raved...
Read moreA friend of my cousin's wife recommended to this place, so this was my first time eating here with my family at the Arrogant Butcher l. Because this was a downtown Phoenix and a Friday night evening, we made sure to have reservations. I definitely recommend this if you don't want to wait. I noticed on our way in that they have outdoor heated seating as well as a main dining area and some private dining spaces. I love the vibe and decor in this place.
Our waiter was Jay and I Ioved his white glasses. He was very professional and attentive. He was very good about answering our questions regarding what were popular orders and his favorites. He did emphasize that most people ordered entrees from the butcher box selections framed in red.
The food is American style. I ordered the Atlantic salmon which had butternut squash fregola, crispy Brussels sprouts Brussels, and cranberry pesto and a side order of the Japanese sweet potatoes which I really enjoyed. My cousin ordered the white shrimp rigatoni which has melted tomato butter, spinach, lemon, caper, parmesan bread crumbs. And his wife ordered a crispy chicken breast topped with jumbo lump crab, green bean, lemon caper butter, Calabrian chile and asked for a side of macaroni and cheese.
I loved the Brussels sprouts and the Japanese sweet potato. The salmon was crispy on the outside and juicy. My cousin liked his but he's not a fan of tomato sauce, and his wife was surprised by the combination of crab and breaded chicken. She really enjoyed hers and the mac and cheese.
The bathrooms were nice and clean. They are located near the entrance. Overall, we had a great experience and I hope to visit again when I'm...
Read moreI dined at this spot for business dinner. It was lively when we got there, and a handful of people were waiting for a table. Since we had a reservation, we didn’t have to wait but a few minutes while they got our table ready. The first thing I saw was a huge bar, equipped with a few TV screens for sports fans. They have lots of seating, goes all the way to the back. The booth seating at the back was larger than the typical four-people booth, it can comfortably seat up to six people.
We started off with a couple of appetizer to share; Crispy Shrimp and Spinach & Artichoke Dip. The Crispy Shrimp was was very tasty and addicting. The portion was a bit small, especially considering the price tag. The dip was pretty good too, and the chips were tasty!
For main, I went with Diver Scallops. It was well made, high quality and I enjoyed every bite.
At the end, we decided to share one dessert. Our server told us that their desserts are easy to share, and most of them (maybe all of them?) come in a bowl or some kind of container. We went with Warm Peanut Butter Cup. When it arrived, I was surprised by the way it looked. It was whipped dessert, more creamy than mousse. Very peanut butter-y.
Our server, Logan was quite awesome. He was friendly and very informative, made us feel welcomed with a big smile. The service overall was very nice, all the staffs were polite and took good care of us. We had a nice dinner here, the price tag might be a bit high based on what you order, but the quality was also high. Definitely a great spot to get together with friends and family, or for a business dinner. Reservation is recommended with...
