The show was magical, but if you’re looking for a family friendly venue, you will have to go somewhere else.

We went to see The Nutcracker at the Orpheum today. The ballet was beautiful, the costumes amazing, but since this is a review for the venue, I am going to talk about that. This is information that I wish I had had before buying tickets here.

The Orpheum‘s bag policy is not only confusing, but also completely unreasonable. We were a group of 5, including two children ages 5 and 6. We had read their bag policy in the email that we got with the tickets. It said that „family bags are allowed“. Since I came with my family, I had put snacks and a bottle of water in my purse. The security personnel running the metal detectors and bag check stations said I would have to leave that bag in the car, since it was too big. I then tried to find out what exactly qualifies as a „family bag“. They said if I had a little backpack with diapers, that would be considered a family bag, but then the signs out front stated „absolutely no backpacks allowed“.

So I went and brought my purse back to the car, carrying the emptied water bottle (they said that either unopened or emptied bottles were ok) and the snacks in my hands. One of the security personnel then proceeded to inform me that I wouldn’t be able to bring the snacks inside, so I ended up throwing them away.

The concession stand had trail mix, beef jerky, chocolate bars and cookies to sell (see picture).

The seats were incredibly uncomfortable, no drink holders, so of course my water bottle rolled down the orchestra floor. Gosh, I wish I had been able to put it in a purse or something to keep that from happening…

Anyway, I wish I had bought tickets for...

The Orpheum Theater is very comfortable, with plenty of legroom and excellent acoustics.

The staff at the Orpheum Theater is incredibly friendly and helpful. They are always happy to answer questions and make sure that everyone has a great time. The theater is also very well-maintained, and the ornate building design is simply breathtaking.

I recently had the pleasure of attending a live performance of the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse soundtrack at the Orpheum Theater, and it was an absolutely incredible experience. The theater was packed with people, but the staff was able to get everyone seated quickly and efficiently. They also made sure that everyone had a drink or snack before the performance began.

The performance itself was absolutely mesmerizing. The orchestra played the soundtrack flawlessly, and the music was brought to life by stunning visuals projected onto the stage. The audience was completely captivated, and there was a palpable sense of excitement throughout the...

As my 50th Review for the year 2023, I had to select a recent visit to one of the foremost theatre venues in the Valley, not to mention, one of the best and beautiful in the country - the Orpheum Theatre. This incredibly ornate and luxurious work of art. The structure was Built in a Spanish Baroque style, that elaborate frescos and dados as an essential part of the overall aesthetic experience. But, did you know that there are 17 Orpheum Theatres in the country – that’s an intriguing chronicle worth researching! Our recent visit was to see and experience Pink Martini perform with our one-and-only Phoenix Philharmonic Orchestra – a fantabulous combination of music which enthralled every spectator. If you’ve not been to this theatre, it’s a must. It’s beautiful, elegant and enchanting – and the acoustics are magnificent. Long live the Phoenix...

An absolutely beautiful theatre full of history. It is now 94 years old. After falling into disrepair, the City of Phoenix purchased the Orpheum in 1984 and closed it for a 12 year renovation and transformation. It reopened in 1997 with "Hello Dolly" starring Carol Channing. It is located in downtown Phoenix and has live performances with an array of various plays, dance troops and much more. We were there to see Shen Yun, the skilled Chinese dancing of pre-communist era. The New York dance troop was amazing with a story of what each dance was about. We've been in attendance of some very excellent shows and never disappointed. The theatre has seating for 1,364 with two balconies. It is wheelchair accessible in entrance, seating, bathroom and parking. We hope you'll take the opportunity to see a live performance there😊 👍👍👍👍👍
