So, on 4-25-2024, a friend and myself sat down for drinks and food at about 6:15pm. Happy hour menu was in my hand as i talked to the server about drinks on it. Ordered one drink, they were out of it, so i ordered a well bourbon and sprite. Friend had an Arnold palmer. Had some wings and ordered another bourbon and sprite, well before the happy hour ended at 7pm. Ended ordering a third drink, after 7pm, so it would obviously be regular price. Server was Matt, nice guy, was honest that he was new and learning the menu. We get our bills, and i gave my card without looking, trusting the system. eh. After i signed, i noticed i was charged full price for my first 2 happy hour drinks. I asked the server, and he apologized and went and asked the bartender about it. She said it was only for certain liquors, that was NOT indicated on the happy hour menu. I have been bartending for 25 years, every bar has a well bourbon. So he went and got a "manager". Rose the "manager" came over and presented herself in a very confrontational mood. SO i explained the situation, and she said i needed to pay my bill for what i consumed. I agreed, but i ordered a happy hour drink at that price. Her response was that they dont have one, i asked her what her well liquors were, she knew nothing about what they carried for alcohol. What kind of manager does not know this information? So she continued to insist i was in the wrong. At this point i felt bad for her lack of managerial skills. More arguing back and forth about the situation and her saying she had no way of fixing my check. Well, anyone who knows anything about the service industry knows this is a lie or, she really is this incompetent. I think the latter. I even offered to show her how to do it, she got more angry about it. The check had NOT been closed out yet, as i was still holding onto my CC receipts. She asked how she could make it right. I told her to fix my check, she refused and asked what else she could do, i said fine, comp me another drink and call it even, she refused and said to pay the bill and then she walked off. I had to ask the server her name as she never introduced herself. Stopped by the host stand to ask about the GMs name. She only knew him as Sal. Our server had told us that they have a revolving door of managers there and that no one stays. The training the servers get is non-existent. This was not the first time a server there charged us incorrectly for our drinks. It seems like they are encouraged to overcharge. Little upcharges like a rocks pour for a regular drink is not ok unless a customer asks for a rocks pour, which is more liquor. Charged for a double when a customer, me, asked for a rum and coke tall. Tall means more mixer, not a double. Bartending 101. We have given this sports bar plenty of business, but it is time to move on. Why the 2 stars?Well, our server was nice, the wings were decent, and the drinks are good. But you always feel like you are being...
Read moreI'm just disappointed.
We live in the area and have been excited to check out the new location. We can walk to it. We frequented it when it was the library and now that it's a bar, it seemed like a HUGE win.
We have a toddler and don't get out often enough for date nights, but we wanted to support a local bar environment before the Suns game last night and hopefully mentally plant our flag for future games. Last night was our first date night in awhile. We didn't have huge expectations, we just wanted an experience that was worth the effort, good food in a friendly environment.
Unfortunately as friendly as our server was, it didn't make up for his lack of menu knowledge and cold food.
Our experience REALLY went wrong with our food. It took a solid 30 minutes to get a burger and a buffalo chicken sandwich, and when the sandwich came, it was cold and it was wrong. The fries and onion rings were ice cold and my burger was absolutely NOT half a pound of beef. My wife had asked our server if the sandwich came with cheese or lettuce or mayo like the burgers, and he wasn't sure, so she asked him for everything on the side.
Our food came out...with lets call it a rammekin of iceberg lettuce and none of the side stuff...and the server explained the rest was coming but the kitchen had forgotten it so he just had to re-ring it in the the kitchen separately. The worst part was..we watched this poor kid ask the kitchen, and the chef tell him he had to ring it in, AFTER WE WAITED THIRTY MINUTES FOR OUR FOOD.
AND THEN WE WERE CHARGED FOR IT?!?! Now, I get it. Times are tough. But 75 cents for a piece of lettuce...60 cents for mayo?
There is NO WAY the kitchen is running that high of food cost that they have to throw those costs onto US for asking for the condiments on the side.
It makes NO SENSE and it's disappointing because we WANT to come back and WANT to like this restaurant, but I rarely look at the bill and this time I'm glad I did.
I would've mentioned it to a manager, but one never came by and we didn't see one...I mentioned it to sever and he took off the Mayo but left on the lettuce.
Anyway, I guess I'm just more disappointed in the nickle and dime-ing aspect and the fact we could see the chef and line just being jerks to the front of house staff. It was surprising that we had such a friendly host and server, both dudes, that the kitchen wasn't friendly too. That...
Read moreSo this just happened. I been going to Zipps for years. I always sit at the bar. When I order wings I never asked for the sauce or be on side. They always put it on the side. Also I asked for oil and vinegar for my salad which has always came on the side. When I got my wings they were dipped in buffalo sauce. I asked the waitress politely to take them bake and bring them back naked, sauce on the side. She got an attitude and started asking questions. I’m the only black person at the bar. The little one with the attitude was going asking everybody were they ok. I literally had to call for attention. I told her salad had no dressing. Then she says, oh’ you want more? I said I never had any. What’s with all the questions. So I said I’m tired of your attitude and she looks at me and role her eyes. It old her I longer wanted the food, I will pay the drinks. Her GM Kristy Harris come and speak to me. I’m trying to explain the situation and she got an attitude told me I had to pay for the food that I didn’t eat, she then cashed me out without me seeing the bill and told me to not back. She think that hurt my feelings. Trust me with an poor attitude like that, I don’t want to come back. Rude and I think she was being racist. I didn’t eat the food because I didn’t want it. I told her I will pay for the drinks not food. She charged my card without my permission and without me seeing the bill. I will be calling corporate on Kristy Harry filing a complaints dm my bank for unauthorized charges. She stole money from me. She need to be a door greeter at Walmart
Update: I called corporate office and spoke to Tiffany which was just as rude as her employees. I asked her how would she like it if someone charged her card without seeing the bill and she told me she didn’t have to answer the question. She told me she believe everything her employee told her lol now I’m going to take it higher. They messed with the wrong one. I wouldn’t spend another penny there. Racist if you ask me. Twin peaks is better anyways. I was actually nice until they got an attitude with me. I been going there for years and never had a problem until new...
