Today was our first visit at Sage and we loved it. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They seated us immediately since we had made a reservation online. This is a BYOB restaurant, but we have drinks rarely anyways and for those interested in a wine with dinner can buy some at the store across the street. The complimentary bread was very good and was served as we received the menus and water. They have a great variety of different Mediterranean dishes, some specialties as well as some more Americanized options. The items we ordered were very authentic, from the appetizer sampler (personally I liked the grape leaves the best), to the entrees and desserts. The grilled calamari (recommendation from our waitress over the fried version) had just the right amount of spice and were more tender than the usual fried calamari. The crispy half duck was amazing! It was done perfectly with very juicy, tender meat that fell off the bones. It had a flavorful crispy skin that carried a hint of cinnamon and came with a sweet raspberry sauce. All these flavors together made for a fantastic composition that melts in your mouth. The potatoes and vegetables that came with the duck were delicious too. My wife also enjoyed her entree very much and commented more than once that we have to come back soon. We rounded up with Italian lemon cream cake and cappuccino, which was made authentic with frothed milk and not...
Read moreNormally it is a good place but this time the waitress said she was going to bring some salad. After we waited for an extremely long time our main course came but no salad. So we asked. She said it does not normally come with the meal. We replied "yes you told us that, but since we were waiting so long you and another person told us you will bring us a complimentary salad. " Her reply was shocking. She said "I will go talk with the manager." . But we should have expected the results. For other reasons we did end up talking with the manager and he had no clue. The story goes on... We have had one of the dishes in the past and more than once. This time the dish tasted like only one flavor. Spicy tomato sauce that came from the grocery store. I know the flavor because I have bought that cheap spaghetti sauce in the past to make my own spaghetti at home. But it seams like they added chili pepper or something. Again the story goes on. In the end the manager served a sweet and tasty chocolate cake. That was only one visit that was bad. A 2.5 hour dinner. Slow service. But in the past we have always enjoyed the experience...
Read moreThis place was absolutely phenomenal. When we arrived, there was nobody there, and they were about to close early for the night. They specifically opened back up just for us. The waiter and a man who was presumably the owner made sure our first visit was excellent. When asked, the waiter had ample recommendations for us. We started with calamari, which was very good. The owner brought us complimentary Cesar salads, to make sure our first time was excellent. I went with a chicken parmesan, which was very well flavored with fresh herbs and a delicious tomato sauce. The pasta used butter instead of oil, which you could definitely taste, in a good way. She went with the crispy half duck, which was excellent and the cranberry sauce was to die for. The waiter and owner were extremely attentive, yet gave us plenty of space, as we were clearly on a date. Finished up with a cappuccino, which was not too sweet, but still delicious. Overall, a great place, although I would give it $$$ instead of $$, although it is on the line, depending on if you order the specials or a normal entree item. 5 star food, and 5...
