An unbelievably poorly-run operation. I understand that this is the go-to place for people ordering turkeys & hams for Thanksgiving, but ultimately, you should be prepared for the rush OR at least give people some kind of notice (which is more on corporate than this store, but still).
When they ask you as you're placing your order to select a pickup window, that leads one to believe they're capping out the windows at a certain number of orders to ensure all customers can be served in a timely manner. Obviously that was not the case. Most people Wednesday afternoon were waiting 45 minutes to an hour.
Again, if this is inevitable, then fine, but we should be made aware of the wait times when ordering, so that we can carve out the necessary amount of time in our day. It's the day before Thanksgiving. People are busy. They have family in town. Not everyone can wait an hour to pick up their turkey.
On top of this, the staff was incredibly unprofessional. One woman was allowed to skip the line because her mommy called the manager and complained. The elderly woman at the door yelled at me as I walked past and looked inside on my way to the car to run other errands as my wife waited in line. "WAIT PATIENTLY, SIR!" My wife said when she got in, one of the employees at the counter was arguing with a customer saying they "don't offer pickup time windows" when clearly everyone's email had one. What a joke.
Update: I got a call from Justin, who apologized for our experience and offered to mail me a gift card for our trouble. Thanks for making it right! He said they would be taking the lessons learned over Thanksgiving to try and improve the situation...
Read moreI placed quite a large order for an office function then, because of a late season hurricane, rescheduled our event and our pickup date due to the storm. The day before our event, I called five or six times, trying to reconfirm our pickup but no one picked up the phone. Most companies now offer an option to receive a call back, but this is not the case with HBH. I arrived for my pick up and they had no record that my order pickup date had been rescheduled - only that it had been canceled. No worries, they had plenty of product but instead of having everything ready, I had to wait while they got everything together. As I was checking out, I mentioned that it was for an office event and asked if unused product could be returned if it was unopened and the manager said yes, no problem. I returned a couple hours later to return the unused portion and everyone scattered and the manager said, uh, just a moment and went into the back. Ten minutes later, he came back out and said, we can give you a gift card in the amount of the return but we can't give you a refund. WHAT?! There was no mention of this when I specifically asked if items could be returned. I do not need a gift card - I needed a refund to my credit card. Read moreI had dreaded going to pick up my Prepaid order, two days before Christmas, after reading so many negative reviews. Upon arriving at the Pinellas Park location, and seeing a line all the way down the sidewalk, and having to park a block away due to the crowd, I prepared myself for the worst. As I approached the front door, a friendly employee greated me and asked if I had a Prepaid order or needed to place an order. I told her mine was Prepaid, so she directed me inside. The Prepaid line wrapped the restaurant twice, so I knew I was still not out of the woods! Much to my surprise, the line moved swiftly and I was at the counter in no time, as the counter employees were waiting on 4 customers at a time! I was greated by two women working together to scan and fill orders with such enthusiasm and cheer! I had my order almost immediately, along with instructions on how to prepare my Christmas ham, and a wonderful "Merry Christmas!" from the two women!
