Monday morning @10:15 a.m. I ventured in to order a cafe latte. I stood for a few minutes, at the end where orders used to be taken. No one told me where to order, but I realized theyād switched the order place to the other end, so I moved down. At the order counter, no one was in line before or behind me. A woman was behind the counter but seemed unable to take an order. I reached this conclusion quickly because, after briefly looking in my direction, she turned away and began doing something else, with her back turned. I stood for @4 more min waiting and then asked her if I was in the right place to order. She apologized and took my order. I waited. I went to the bathroom and discovered the bathroom door now has a code lock on it. A nice patron told me the code. I went back to the receiving end of the store and waited. And waited. And waited. A man (also waiting) explained the āBoard,ā an expensive way theyāve come up with to perhaps explain their slowness and keep people from asking about their orders. The āBoardā has three columns: āreceived,ā āprocessing,ā and ācompleted.ā 15 minutes into this experience, with literally only one man waiting beside me, I was still in the āreceivedā column. I waited a couple minutes longer and then decided I didnāt need a $7 cup of coffee this badly. I asked for a refund. Not one person explained the delay until I asked for a refund. Apparently all three employees on duty were engrossed in filling a āto goā order and could not be bothered with filling the two simple orders of the two people standing before them.
First, hire more people, itās the holidays. (No, just hire more people permanently.) Second, train your staff to understand customer service and be more aware of their surroundings.
Bottom line, separate and conquer the tasks at hand. Designate who works āto goā and who works the counter, and always take care of the people standing right in front of you. Oh, and maybe mention the fact that the bathroom door has a code so that no one is blind sided. Itās the polite thing to do.
Given the chaotic atmosphere, I really think thereās plenty of room in New Albany for a cozy, efficiently managed coffee shop, where doors arenāt locked.
Happy Holidays
(P.S. I will be making my own wonderful coffee at home, for a fraction of the cost and none of the hassle! - Seriously, add it up. In 2-3 months you could purchase one heck of a machine for your home. Just think,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEverything about this Starbucks is great. I love the food. It's always warmed up, never still cold. The service is absolutely amazing. The staff isn't afraid to yell out order names (which is helpful because we all know that people space out at times). No one has ever been rude to me, an I've always received my food quick no matter how many people are there. My order has never been given to me wrong. 2 staff members that are doing a wonderful job are, a girl who always works the register in the mornings, older woman. She's very respectful and is always in a happy mood. The other person is Marge. Marge made my drinks today and let me just say she is one of the kindest people I've ever met. She's so helpful and really paid attention to small things EX (like me saying I'm gonna struggle carrying these home! And she instantly responded with would you like a carrier and a bag? She also really tried to connect with me, which I very much appreciated!! The atmosphere is great. It feels so comfy and warm. It really is like a small town coffee shop around the corner! Love everything about this place, keep it up...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe cashier Kathy is rude. I went in today for coffee and a sandwich, when I went up to order she immediately had a bad attitude, when I asked if they had a certain type of sandwich she pointed to the display fridge and said āif itās not there we donāt have itā. I then replied oh yay you have it can I have..ā but I was not able to finish my sentence as she rudely said āyou need to get the sandwich so I can scan it, there is no other way for me to put it in the system.ā Which I donāt think is right but alright. Lastly I wanted to order a drink and I know they have their own names for cup sizes but Iām not familiar with them. When I said I wanted a medium, she raised her brow, looked at one of her co-worker and gave me my total. She did not give me my receipt, as I asked and then pointed to the opposite side of the store then said wait for your name to be called and began kindly speaking to the gentleman behind me. I did not appreciate getting such an off experience as that man did and I will not be returning to...
