Well I used to like this place but after my visit today I don't plan on coming back. The girl who took my order (drive thru) was not at all friendly. There was a loud truck right next to the intercom I said the meal I wanted and she said something and I couldn't hear her and then when he turned off his truck I said what and she just said what else so I finished ordering. I thought the price was a bit high but didn't even realize until I was long gone that she gave me a double portion instead of a single. Then when I get to the window she takes my card slams window, hands it back slams window, gives me food and says have a good day in a rushed tone and slams window. I start driving off and realize she forgot my drink I pull back around and she just gives me my drink and doesn't say a single word then slams window.....I've come here multiple times in the past and have always had friendly employees with good service but I guess things have changed. I totally get that you don't want to be at work and I can even get that you don't enjoy your job or that you don't get paid enough but if you got that much attitude and can't even treat people with the lowest amount of respect then quit your job. I mean I'm sure you would do much better working at a warehouse or someone where you don't even deal with...
Read moreI haven't been to a Grandy's in quite some time as the stores were dirty, the food bar was dirty and the restroom reminded me of some rundown gas station. Enough.reasons to keep away, right? But one of my brothers told me the ownership or management had changed hands and his last trip to Grandy's was like Grandy's heyday of the 80's and 90's when Grandy's was always busy because the food was always great! That's been my experience on my last THREE visits to store on 15th, just east of 75 in Plano. I had fried chicken and it was fantastic! I had country steak with brown cream gravy and it was delicious. Most recently I tried the fried catfish and it too was fantastic! The rolls are like those of the 80's/90's, hot, soft, and yeasty just the way I love rolls! They've set up the dining room so you don't have to worry about other diners sitting too close and the tables are clearly marked so there's no cheating. But the thing I really love is the restaurant is CLEAN! The store on 15th is as clean as any restaurant I've been in lately and that's a lot of restaurants. I can't find anything to criticize so 5 stars is an easy conclusion. If you liked Grandy's 20 years ago you'll be glad that it's...
Read moreThe first time I experienced Grandy’s was in 1983 in Tulsa, Oklahoma when I was visiting for the first time. I ended up moving there for over a decade and Grandy’s was a local treasure in Tulsa when it came to Chicken.
They still serve breakfast! You always went for the fresh homemade cinnamon rolls that were so amazing. And the homemade cobblers—-OMG!
They might have been the first chain to start chicken tenders/nuggets and they never disappointed. Fried golden brown and crispy, just like grandma made them back in the day. Sides: let’s talk about sides! The fresh veggie choices, including the crispy fried okra, corn, slaw, green beans, whipped potatoes, and baked beans were always so amazing. Ask yourself this, why don’t other chicken chains offer baked beans with your meal? It’s so delicious and a nice change.
So I saw this Grandy’s and had to go inside, because there are only a couple left and this is a time capsule. The staff were old fashion friendly and most had worked there for decades. The place was so clean and the food was served fresh and steaming hot. I was so excited to relive this experience. You should give it a try if you...
