We've eaten Big Daddy's Pizza, nearly every Friday night, for the past 7 years. At one point a year or two ago I calculated out that we'd easily spent over $4500 at Big Daddy's since we'd discovered them. We've stuck with them through multiple workers and owners (Edwin and the Himilayan dude being the coolest by far). I've recommended them to just about everyone I've ever talked pizza with. They've been my go-to pizza place for years. They earned that spot with their prices, portions, and friendliness (though order accuracy wasn't always quite spot on).
Today that stops.
We had switched over to Costco pizzas when the new owners closed the shop down for renovations and we were excited to find out that they had reopened. Tonight I eagerly ordered our usual order of 3 pizzas and was SHOCKED to be given a price nearly DOUBLE what we normally pay ($54 vs our normal $28-$32 depending on toppings). Inflation is bad, but not THAT bad.. yet (thanks Biden).
I made some adjustments and ordered 2 express pizzas instead of the 'custom' ones I'd wanted (double pepperoni, extra cheese) plus one custom one. The total came out to about $32.
I arrived at the shop and was greeted with the new look. Not bad. I picked up the pizzas and thought they looked kinda small. When I got them home the first thing my wife said was "Wait, why are those so small?"
They are small. The new 'normal' size is tiny, nearly a personal pan. If I were really hungry I could eat a whole pizza by myself. The generosity of Big Daddy's is dead. These are gourmet prices for a step above Little Cesar's quality. I think, but am not sure, that they taste about the same as before. But the value is gone. At these prices you'd be better off going to Marcos, Village Baker, or The Pie.
I'm really bummed to have to go back to Costco's pizzas, but these prices are way too high and portions are...
Read moreI would give it a 0 if I could. Used to order all the time a few years ago. I'd give such good tips the owner would deliver the pizza personally in 5 minutes to get the tip. Thought that was a little weird but pizza was always really good and prompt. Must of sold it because I had the absolute worst pizza delivery experience possible. I paid 53$ for 2 pizzas an a 6 peice wing, which sounded very high to me, but hey inflation. Left the driver a 8$ tip. Ordered around 8 pm through the website. Said pizza would be here around 8:16-8:31. Cool, no issue. I call around 8:40, still no pizza, called just to see what's up. Lady was very rude, said the guy is on his way. Whatever. 8:50 rolls around, no pizza, hungry kids. Called back. They would answer the phone after 1 or 2 rings then immediately hang up, they probably did that 25 times. I started to get irritated. Around 8:55 the rude lady finally answered. She barley spoke english so my wife who is fluent in spanish talked to her. She was very rude to her as well, basically said there is nothing they can do, they do a 3rd party for delivery, and not only were we not getting our pizza, she would not refund us. The most appalling, disrespectful, rude service I've ever had, not just from a pizza place, but any place I've been too. Look at my history, I never leave reviews, this was so bad I felt compelled. Will never ever go back, and will tell everyone I know, even if they don't ask, how bad the service was. Oh by the way, finally got a hold of the third party and they said the pizza had been "delivered", lol probably to a different address, or they took it themselves. No pizza, no refund, no buisness ever...
Read moreGood, fast, cheap pizza. We went there for a change of pace from the typical Little Ceasars, and were happy we did. The pizza was just a good, if not better (crust is thinner than LCeasars; I think the sauce is better here; they go lighter on cheese and pepperoni, but I was happy with the overall product, especially considering the price), the price comparable to LCeasars, and I was in and out in 8mins with 2 fresh from the oven pizzas.
Things to know:
Fast: they cooked our cheese and pepperoni pizzas on the spot (they weren't waiting under warmers), so it wasn't "hot and ready," but it was out in 7mins, piping hot from the oven, which I prefer.
No line: we went on a Monday at about 5pm, and there wasn't anybody else there.
Cheap: the 14" (size of a Little Caesars large) range from $5-13.
Huge pizzas: they sell bigggg 26" pizzas which have an area of 530sq" (whereas a 14" area is 153sq"). But, unlike many pizza shops, you aren't really getting a better deal going with a bigger pie between the 18", and 26" since they are both about $.06/sq" (the 14" is $.07/sq").
