Decided to go in and give it one last shot after multiple previous attempts at ordering food that is worth $17.00 and getting something worth maybe $6.00 at most (NEVER choose online ordering for pickup. You will get a burrito at most half as big as normal with hardly anything inside.)
I came into the Chipotle and what I assumed was the manager was borderline yelling at two employees in the front, clearly visible and audible, about how they were doing terrible. That should never happen in public at work. If you have to reprimand or discipline, you do that in private where customers cannot hear. Simple as that. I went up to the start of the food area, no line, no employee there waiting. The girl from the register came over about 30 seconds into me stopping and waiting there, which was alright I can handle that.
I looked down over at the veggies/salsa/sauces section and it's a mess. I haven't ever seen it that dirty during work hours at a restaurant with a similar food system as Chipotle. It looked like a baby had gotten into everything at that station for 10 minutes. Pico everywhere, corn salsa all over the counter, cheese and lettuce strewn over the counter as well, half a dozen spots of guac and sour cream in between the cheese and lettuce. Looking back at the employee, I can tell she's a bit embarrassed.
We get to the meat, I look in and see almost everything is gone. No chicken, maybe two spoonfuls of steak, barely any barbacoa, 6 or 7 veggies in the fajita veggies, you get the picture. All of it looks relatively old too, and I mean maybe half an hour old or so at the most? It definitely doesn't look fresh and as appetizing as you would think it should. Regardless, there's just enough of the two meats I want and enough for a generous double portion, so order double meat, steak and barbacoa. The employee proceeds to put an almost identical portion to what they normally put on burritos of both steak and barbacoa, as if it was half and half. I patiently and kindly reminded her that I wanted double and if she could give me more, and she looked back at her manager briefly and back at me and said she was sorry, there wasn't enough for double meat. I said that that was fine, but please don't charge me for double meat then, to which she said okay.
We get to the atrocious veggie station. The lettuce looked very unappetizing, so I just asked for hot salsa and cheese. After asking for it, I took a look at the salsas and noticed each one of them looked like a paste. Not salsa. Like tomato paste consistency. Alright, fine it's just dried out salsa hopefully it still tastes okay. The cheese looked like plastic, so I asked her to just forget the cheese. No guac, no queso, so I can't comment on it as I wasn't look at that.
We get up to the register, and she lets another employee who came from the back wrap my burrito. He wraps it quickly and then comes up with the brilliant idea of sliding the burrito through the veggie catastrophe to the employee ringing me up. I awkwardly laughed a bit and asked if they could wipe off the bit of sour cream, cheese, and lettuce that had gotten on the burrito, to which she hurriedly did.
The manager started yelling again about something with the meat taking forever to cook while I was leaving. As I got in the car, I looked at the receipt and noticed I had been charged for double meat. I realized as well that I hadn't been told my total, which was admittedly my fault for not paying attention. $17.00 for a normal size burrito with 3/5 star at most quality food. Absolutely ridiculous.
Ate the burrito while I was typing this review, and it wasn't that bad. Wasn't good, but also wasn't 0/5 or 1/5 stars. The only bad note was the pasty salsa.
Never going to this Chipotle again, and until they drop prices for their mid quality at best food, won't be visiting any...
Read moreI rarely take the time to let management know of an experience I had at a store, but I will make an exception this time. On the night of my birthday, July 12, my husband and I decided to eat at the Pleasant Grove Chipotle. We have been there many times since the opening. The first few months we had great experiences there with staff and the food. We expressed to the manager that we had finally found a Chipotle that had high standards. We had no such luck with other Chipotle restaurants in the area. That has now changed.
There was little to no air conditioning when we walked in. This is not okay when it is mid-nineties outside. The tables looked like they hadn't been cleaned for hours. There was a lot of food mess around the containers of food behind the glass and they were not refilling it so that it looked presentable. There was one guy who helped us with the order and he was nice! The teenage girl who was at the front counter/cashier could not be bothered with decent customer service. In her free time when she was not helping people she could have washed some tables. Even the area around the cash register had food all over it. This was around 7pm and it was not busy. The teenagers had time to stand around and chat as well.
It was my birthday and I had an email that gave me free guacamole. She was very impatient while I tried to navigate how to use the offer. She gruffly said after a minute, "Oh, it's okay don't worry about it," and then proceeded to charge me for the guacamole as well as some tortillas that I hadn't even ordered! She was not friendly and it made me think she was a relative of the boss who didn't think she had to do much to keep her job.
With all of the options of where to eat in Utah County and in Pleasant Grove and American Fork, you might want to address the air conditioning problem and the lack of adequate staff and cleanliness. I was told that the corporate people are the only ones allowed to adjust the air and that it had been an issue for over a week. It will be quite some time before we trust going back to eat there. Hopefully some of these issues will...
Read moreI went here with my pregnant wife a few months ago for dinner. My wife watched as one of the cooks dropped something on the ground as they prepared the food - the woman scooped up the item off the ground, threw it away, and then continued preparing the food. She did not wash her hands or change her gloves. This was very unsanitary.
I brought this up to the manager and he replied with, "that's a bold claim." He insisted that I was lying. I told him to check the cameras - he said that it could take time to go in the back and look. He then went in the back and 15 minutes later asked me to come with him to the back room so I could watch the footage with him. He kept showing footage of the cook at the incorrect time. I had to tell him 3 times to go to the exact moment when my wife saw the incident. The manager finally went to it and the footage confirmed what my wife saw.
The manager then proceeded to tell me that he is only willing to remake my wife's food because she is pregnant and would not remake my food (she got a salad and I got a burrito). He was also unwilling to reimburse for the meal or offer any credit.
My wife and I eat Mexican food several times a month. Cafe Rio has been our go to place for the past 4 years but we wanted to make this Chipotle our new go to restaurant. We were extremely disappointed with this experience at Chipotle and will never be returning to this location. The management, the cook, and the food here just completely suck. 100% do...
