I am Chinese . After work today, I went to volunteer at a church for take care of kids .I accidentally arrived an hour and a half early, so I decided to kill some time (and fill my stomach) by popping into a nearby Indian restaurant to order an “Indian pancake.” Five minutes later, the waiter came over carrying what looked like a wooden beam — I kid you not, it was longer than the table! One end landed on my knee, the other nearly poked into the kitchen. It was thicker than my thigh. For a moment, I thought I’d traveled back in time and the emperor had summoned me for a royal favor — was I about to be abducted for love?! 🤣🤣🤣 I hadn’t even washed my hair or put on decent clothes… Wouldn’t it be rude to be carried away like this looking such a mess? 🙈🙈🙈 A few tables nearby turned to stare. One Indian uncle put down his curry, looked at me with a mischievous grin, and said in a thick accent: “Good luck.” The way he smiled — tragic and amused at the same time. 😅 Snapping back to reality, I reminded myself that I was in the civilized United States of America. I looked around — it truly felt like I was the only contestant in some pancake-eating championship. The whole room was silently bracing for a carb massacre. I looked down at the monstrous dosa — quietly turned a page, and decided to read it like a novel. 🤭🤭🤭

I would like to start by saying that I had great expectations for this restaurant. The dosas in the pictures looked great and I thought this was the place to go for south Indian food. Little did I know that I would be severely disappointed. First of all, the service was not adequate and the servers didn't seem well equipped to handle the crowd. Secondly, I always believe that buffet places have usually subpar reviews because buffets can be a hit or a miss. However, I always review based on their ala carte menu. The food here was horrible. Dosas can never be served cold and of course ours was. On asking the waiter about it, he said he brought it straight from the pan. Now for people who can not even cook, discerning hot and cold food is never really a problem. So argument about it is really a moot point. Secondly the batter for my rava masala dosa seemed amiss. I had stomach problems the next day. The only saving grace was that the veg machurian was edible. Maybe I went in on a wrong day and I believe this restaurant has great potential but as of yesterday I would steer clear of this place.

I was genuinely impressed by the Masala Dosa it was absolutely delicious. The dosa was perfectly crisp with a soft interior, and the potato masala filling was full of authentic flavor and comfort. Every bite reminded me of home-cooked South Indian food done right. The ambiance added to the experience, with warm décor and traditional touches that made it feel like I was dining in a classic South Indian household. But the service left a lot to be desired. I ran out of chutney and sambar and waited over 20 - 25 minutes for a refill. No one stopped by to check on me or ask if I needed anything. I understand they might be short-staffed, but these small gestures go a long way in hospitality. With such amazing food and a lovely atmosphere, I truly hope they improve the service.

It was my birthday 🎂 today. I planned to have South Indian food and thought Nala's Kitchen is the place to go. But that's about it.

Little did I know I was inform many surprises. I ordered the food online around 6:45 p.m. I called in to confirm my order and they said that the order will be ready in an hour's time. Once I reach there surprisingly they did not have any order in my name. It seems that my credit card was declined which I realized after logging into my account.

Nevertheless I put my order in person and waited for about 20-25 minutes as they were backed up with several other orders.

After waiting quite long I finally got my order and reached home.

To my surprise, there were no chutneys packed in my order. If one is having South Indian food it is like having chapati without any vegetable. Chutneys are an integral part of South Indian food.

For them to have forgotten this did not make much sense. I called them up to see what they could do about it maybe give me a credit or have the balance of the items delivered. None of this happened and instead I just was told that they will look at it next time when I come in.

Instead I got a reason that they were really short-staffed and busy but that doesn't justify not ensuring everything within an order is packed and provided for for every customer.

I was totally torn and extremely angry and upset. The least they could have done is given me a credit for next time are discounted my current order.

I was really looking forward to my birthday meal however it is almost like I would need to forget this day in my memory.

A big lesson learned for next time is always check the contents of the order when you are taking out because you never know what the server on the restaurant will miss while parking your order !!!

I was really looking forward to a lovely meal on my birthday but it just turned out to be not the most memorable ones.

At the end of the day I don't want to spoil my mood, and will...

My girlfriend and I are both vegan and went to go to their weekend breakfast buffet which Nala's Kitchen has listed online in multiple locations as being vegetarian & vegan friendly, so we felt pretty confident we would be able to enjoy a portion of items from their buffet without needing to call or ask any questions beforehand about meeting our dietary needs. And while the buffet certainly is vegetarian, after checking with staff (as none of the items were actually labeled), almost nothing on the buffet was actually vegan due to containing ghee, other than some breads and chutney's. Being that we weren't able to eat 90% of the items available and essentially none of the main course items we decided to leave without eating anything, which was unfortunate because we had wanted to come here for awhile and had to drive 45 minutes round trip to get there. The staff were kind enough to allow us to take some breads for free that we already had on our plate before we decided not to eat, which I did tip for, so I do at least appreciate the hospitality and their transparency about what was in the food when asked.

For vegetarians or people ordering off the menu (where I do know they have vegan options when requested) I'm sure the options can be good here, but unfortunately, I felt like the only options available for a buffet being labeled as vegan friendly weren't sufficient enough to provide a satisfactory meal and they should probably change their marketing to reflect this or at least offer some of the dishes without ghee if they want to continue to advertise the buffet as vegan. Other Indian restaurants in the Twin Cities area offer occasional all vegan buffets so we likely will continue to frequent...

Review 1 Went here for a late afternoon lunch date. The place was almost empty, with just one other table occupied. Service was quick and the staff were courteous. I ordered the ghee roast onion rava dosa — usually takes a while since the griddle needs to heat up, but it arrived in just 10 minutes. That said, the onions could have been cooked a bit more, and the dosa could’ve been crispier. Overall, decent, but not wow.

Review 2 Tried this place despite hearing some mixed reviews. Honestly, the service was very prompt — I didn’t have to wait long for my order. My dosa came in about 10 minutes, which is impressive. Flavors were fine, though I prefer my onions cooked more and the dosa slightly crunchier.

Review 3 Stopped by in the afternoon for a quick bite. Barely anyone inside, so the atmosphere was calm. Staff served my food quickly. I got a ghee roast onion rava dosa — portion was good, but texture was softer than I like. Would have enjoyed it more if the onions were cooked through.

Review 4 Ordered food for takeout and was impressed with how fast it was ready. Didn’t have to wait at all. Service was efficient, no fuss. Only small letdown — when I asked for extra coconut chutney, they didn’t provide any.

Review 5 Clean bathrooms, which is always a plus in my books. However, I noticed my water glass wasn’t refilled without asking. Small detail, but it makes...
