One thing I've learned while traveling is that you don't go to a restaurant on a coast harbor and NOT order the seafood. The seafood is literally right there so it's guaranteed fresh by the time it arrives on your plate.

I was a little concerned about the comfort of this plate. It's rather warm--though I suppose that comes with being on a coastside city with lots of sunshine--but I grew pleasantly surprised at the cool sea breeze flowing softly through the windows. There are fans inside the building but I liked the breeze more; really added to the "harbor restaurant" feel.

The fries are good. Not too oily, not too salty, and a good crunch to them. Incredibly palatable, to the point I wouldn't mind eating them without cocktail sauce or ketchup. (At the time of writing this, I have now eaten over half the fries without cocktail sauce or ketchup.)

I had never ordered a stuffed quahog before, so I tried one out of curiosity. It is a clam shell (quahog shell?) stuffed with something similar to a crab cake, with a consistency similar to bread pudding and clam (quahog?) bits scattered throughout. I've had crabcakes I didn't like because they were always too pungent on the salt and herbs. The stuffed quahog was a pleasant change of place. If the crabcakes I've had were like salespeople at a hardware store going up in your face about deals, the stuffed quahog is much toned down, with a bold flavor that stands its ground, but doesn't make you too sick if you eat too much of it.

I had a lobster roll for the first time here, because the lobster rolls at Boston, for whatever reason, clear out my wallet faster than my boss pays me at work. The lobster roll came at a manageable price this time around (it's market price so it varies) and I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of lobster meat on the single piece of bread. It is excellent. Lobster juice gushes out at every bite of meat, the bread beneath is well toasted and gives a satisfying crunch, and the lettuce in between serves as an excellent barrier keeping the lobster juices at bay from turning the toasty bits from soggy bread--and provides a refreshing layer that brings the two elements together.

I do not regret coming here. I would eat here again if I wanted.

Take my 5 stars, Wood's...

Just because a restaurant is located on the water doesn't mean the seafood is going to be fresh. I didn't see any fishing poles there. My wife and I stopped in on a Wednesday for lunch. We had been stuck in the house for 3 weeks after her major back surgery, and this was our first venture out, so we decided to treat ourselves to the lobster rolls here. The price was typical for a no-atmosphere restaurant at $25 each. We ordered and paid for our food and got a paper cup for our drink, which is self serve and dispensed from a drink station. We chose root beer and when our cups were full the root beer was a light caramel color and tasted like soda water. There's no waiter or waitress, so no one to tell about it. We were there for the lobster roll, not the drinks, so we settled for the caramel colored soda water. They called our number and I picked up our lobster rolls (there's no waiter or waitress). After a few bites, we both looked at each other and said "Is your lobster lousy?" The lobster was very dry, somewhat tasteless, and had a crystalline structure of some sort. We ate about half of it because we were hungry, and we ate most of the French fries, which were good. We concluded that the lobster must have been quite old, maybe even frozen and thawed a couple times. But definitely not fresh. Maybe they cooked it last Friday for the weekend rush, and now it's Wednesday. But it seemed older than that even. We have lobster rolls probably 4 or 5 times a year at different places throughout New England, so we know good lobster. I'm looking at you, Doyle's Pub. Our experience at Woods Seafood was lousy, $57 for fries and soda water. Kind of spoiled our first venture out of the house. On a positive note, we didn't get sick from eating there, thankfully, and the...

It's decent, but I most definitely wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again. You order at the couter, grab a seat and they will call your number. Their online information said they closed at 8pm. However, we arrived at 7pm and were informed before we ordered that they were closing at 7:30pm. No reason was given. We both ordered fish and chips and lobster bisque. The fish was actually very good. The fries were cold, and the lobster bisque was inedible. It was made with way too much flour, was super thick and and tasted only of flour with a fishy aftertaste. It came in a little paper cup and had a skin on top of the bisque like it had been sitting there for a very long time. Very unappetizing. No meat that I could find. Disappointing, and neither of us was able to eat it. Service was lacking (we had to ask again for our soda cup and beer) and we were "treated" to a male emplloyee literally screaming at a customer who was looking for his order that was evidently placed some time ago. I've never seen anything like it! Not OK. Overall, not a great...

🦞Foodie Friday 🦀 Woods Seafood in Plymouth is north of Plymouth Rock, you can see it from there though. It’s fast casual, meaning you order at the front and they call your number when it’s ready. We sat on the pier because it was busy inside and it was a beautiful day! The food was good and not over priced, for a tourist area. Which would you choose, crab cake, lobster roll or neither? #foodiefriday #woodsseafood #travel #wanderlust #plymouthmassachusetts #all50statesorbust
