My Wife and I recently traveled to Pompano Beach from Chicago for the first time and let me tell you, this place alone gives us reason to plan another trip!!! Short Version: The absolute best Crepes with the absolute best service for the absolute best price!!! Let me start the "Long Version" by saying how amazing, friendly, welcoming, and informative the owners Mo and Patricia are!!! They truly welcomed us into their space with smiles and open hearts as they regaled us with tales of the history of crepes centered around Normandy (where they hail from) and Brittany, France. On this week long trip we made it to Urban Crepes only twice, but that's only because it took us 4 days onto the trip to try it for the first time lol(next trip I anticipate returning many more times). First visit I ordered The Tunisian(Savory), a Cappuccino w/ an extra shot, and for dessert a sweet crepe filled with bananas, whipped cream, and their homemade Salted Butter Caramel sauce. The Savory Crepes including the Tunisian are served to be eaten by hand as opposed to knife and fork, as both Patricia and Mo explained this is the traditional way. Something akin to a roti wrap, it was absolutely the perfect way to enjoy this! The crepe was a nice balance of crispy and pliable to offer both appealing texture to the palate and structure to hold everything without falling apart. Made with the best and freshest ingredients and it's obvious. Let me tell you, the Tuna Harissa Cream in The Tunisian is perfectly blended flavorful goodness. Don't be scared off by "Harissa" if you're sensitive to spice, it wasn't super spicy but rather extremely flavorful and a great compliment to the tuna as well as the crepe as a whole. The Cappuccino was delicious as well! It was automatic machine made, but they have the machine dialed in perfectly (many places do not unfortunately) and they're definitely using the great beans and fresh too cuz the flavor shined through. Patricia served my extra shot on the side, which I thought was kind of cool because it allowed me to taste the espresso separate from the Cappuccino before I dumped it in. I always like to gain perspective and flavor from all sides. Now the dessert crepe wooooaaaahhh Mama, talk about decadence, flavor, texture, and fulfillment, this was as visually stunning as it was a flavor experience. As reasonable as the prices are here, they do not skimp on the quality or quantity! Mo sprinkled sugar, piled the banana slices and mounded the whipped cream before drizzling the mouthwatering Salted Butter Caramel sauce both inside and on top of the crepe after folding it over in a beautiful triangular horn like presentation. As I dove into the crepe all the flavors worked exquisitely together and the graininess of the sugar sprinkled into the softness and richness of the crepe itself provided a surprising texture background that just popped perfectly. As you can imagine we were more than eager to return for round two a couple days later at which time I got even else the same, but tried a different Savory crepe: Tartiflette. All of the above still applied to this visit although the combination of the potatoes, bacon, and creme fraiche were a very tantalizing trio that differed greatly from the Tunisian offering contrast while still living up to the same standards without any disappointment! Thank You Mo and Patricia for the amazing food experience as well as your company, we will definitely be back on our next trip...
Read moreI'm giving this business a five stars review hands down. I agree with all others; if you want an authentic French crepe in town, this is the place to go. They are not only delicious but super stuffed and made with care by Mo, the owner, right in front of your eyes. The crepe is thin, as it's supposed to be, and full to the top of delicious fresh ingredients. We've ordered twice and both times both crepes were delicious and super flavorful. There are several sauces to choose from but we always rely on the owners knowledge to pick the right one. I have not had their sweet crepes yet but I am sure they are delicious and they wouldn't disappoint. Patricia, Mo's wife, is super sweet and I really hope they get a lot of business because I would hate to see them go. Sadly the store is not in a very favorable position for people that are not familiar with the area as it is right on Atlantic Boulevard in a place where is not easy to stop, but there is plenty of parking in the back and access to the store from the back as well. Give them a try, you will not be...
Read moreSpectacular flavors, homemade sauces, delightful textures, and full stomachs with excellent prices! We will certainly be back! I highly recommend you give this place a try- you will want to make it one of your regular spots too! They also have a kids menu!
My wife and I loved this place! First, we got some savory crepes- the Normandy and the Carnivore- both topped with homemade sauces that delighted the tastebuds. Not only that, but these Crepes were packed with delicious ingredients! The fattest Crepes I’ve ever seen!
We both weren’t sure if we were going to make it all the way through these Crepes, but we did.
Then we had to try the savory crepes- once again they were topped with homemade sauces- the crepe itself was sweet and chewy- everything you could want in a sweet crepe- and once again the flavors were spectacular!
The owners are delightful and were fun to talk with and hear about France, where they’re from and the humble origins...
