We were on foot in Pompano Beach all week and we had walked by several times and a man (assume the owner?) kept stopping us as we were walking attempting to get us to stop by. He was friendly but had the feel he'd tell you anything to get you in. We finally gave way after a few days and we wish we hadn't.
Atmosphere: The place is clean. The decor is somewhat bland and honestly I don't remember much of it. They had a nice big TV. The staff seems to spend most of the time behind the counter cooking and very little time on the floor. Food Quality: We went for their Taco Tuesdays. I didn't expect much from their 99c Tacos, while they aren't a lot of food they do taste pretty decent. They are Cali Style tacos with no cheese. They were good enough to save them from getting 1 star.
Price/Value: I feel like overall this place could have a decent value as most of their items were priced well. We went on Taco Tuesday and the service turned us off for the rest of the week. Their Drink specials were okay, but their mixed drinks were... uninventive...
Service: After spending two days wooing us in the street each time we walked by, we gave him a shot. Previously we had asked if they would have the World Series on being from KC we wanted to watch it. He said yes of course, and when we got there it wasn't on and they had a lot of trouble even finding it. When they did put it on, they did not turn on the sound.
We came in, ordered 4 tacos for each my wife and I. I ordered a beer and my wife ordered a daiquiri. After about 15 minutes we finally received our 8 tacos. Unfortunately, as small as they were we wanted 2 more a piece. Also, our drinks were empty. He gave us our food and did not ask if we wanted anything else. So we had to finish our meal without anything to drink. Upon finishing our tacos, he came with our check and told us to have a good night. I looked at my wife and she gave me the sign that she's done. So we paid our tab and left even though we wanted 4 more tacos and 2 more drinks and wrote on the receipt that by the way we wanted those.
The next day the guy sees us again and waves hello at us once more. Doesn't apologize, just waves and smiles. So my wife and I ignore him and walk on.
Conclusion: You can't put forth as much effort to get people to come into your store as you did and then not deliver when they get into your store. That's not a successful business model. I don't recommend the place to anyone, and I definitely will...
Read moreThis place ought to be on kitchen nightmares. At any other restaurant, I'd think a lot of these issues were harmless mistakes but I wouldn't come back simply on principle because of how management handled them
Price: We ordered 3 entrees and a side of tabbouleh and it was over $77 because they charged us $2 each for water and $7 for that small bowl of tabbouleh. The kaftedes were $20 and it was very small, nothing like their pictures.
Service: There were 2 guys screaming at each other in the kitchen so it's really not a nice atmosphere. Not to mention how dodgy they were about showing me my bill. I paid for it and left, but my friends asked me how much it was. That's when we noticed it was much higher than we expected and went back to see the receipt. I'm glad we did because the owner hadn't finalized our bill. I wouldn't have put it past them to change the charge to $177 instead of $77 at that point. The "side" of tabbouleh with the kaftedes being $7 and the $8 in water they charged us 4 were the driving factors in the bill discrepancy
They'd also already tried to rip my friends off by not bringing their fries and saying there weren't fries included, when it said all over their menu. They made us show them their own menu, and we could see the same thing happening to other customers. Still had to ask a 3rd time for those fries before we got them (unsalted). Apparently they were already made but they "forgot" to bring it. Just like they did for both of my friends and the table beside us who we didn't know.
It was Thanksgiving and this was the only place open, and we knew nobody ate there during the entire rest of the week. They tried to say they were so slammed with business but that really doesn't explain their shady upcharging practices.
Some advice for owners: if you didn't try to scam so many of your customers, maybe you wouldn't have to work so hard on...
Read moreThis place was dirty. The server, I believe was the owner didn't listen to what we wanted. My kids didn't get their waters and I had to ask 3 times... didn't come until after the food. The plan was to get a small and quick bite, and turned out to take a while and was way more than I anticipated. I ordered waffles for all 3 kids and a side of fruit for myself. My side of fruit was an entire pineapple, cored and filled with an assortment of fruit- it was nice and all, but I ordered a SIDE of fruit. He knew what he was doing... that was 12 bucks. He came back to say they had no waffles, so I tried to maybe get french toast or pancakes. Not sure if it was a language barrier but he didn't want my kids to have that, not sure but he said he'll make them something nice, "an egg sandwich" we tried asking what was on it and all he said was egg wrapped up and assured us it'd be good. It came, 3 pitas filled with egg, shaved lamb and onion... my kids wanted waffles and got that instead ..who the hell does that??? Again- he knew what he was doing. I went in wanting a small cup of fruit and some kids waffles, got something completely different and my bill was 50 bucks. NOT HAPPY. The kids ate some of the eggs and tried not to complain but the food was mediocre. Overall POOR experience. To the owner - LISTEN to your customers. What do THEY want? Not you. And don't make them ask for water...
